Author's Notes: I wrote this a while ago for my OAC writing class. It's really short, but
sweet. I had to keep the story under three pages!

A small blue bird fluttered to the white windowsill and peered inside, as if fascinated. The
stained glass windows were wide open, letting the fresh morning breeze into the dressing
room. The bird chirped for attention, but both occupants ignored it.

"Usagi, stop fidgeting." Usagi's hands froze near her head and her blue gaze met the
matching blue one reflected in the mirror in front of her.

"I can't help it Minako. This is it! This is the day!" Usagi gave one final tug before
letting her hands fall to smooth the waist of her skirt. She turned to look at her friend
and the white silk of her dress rustled around her legs.

"I know that, Usagi." Minako stood up from the wicker chair. She adjusted the veil nestled
in her friend's blond curls. "It's your big day."

"Did I mess it up? Is my hair..." Usagi's voice trailed off as she caught Minako's
disapproving look.

"You look beautiful. He'll be speechless when he sees you." Minako grinned and stepped back
to admire her handy work. "He usually is."

Usagi laughed nervously before reaching for the one of the satin gloves on the dressing
table. She started to pull it onto her trembling hand, but stopped. She tugged the smooth
glove off of her fingers and tossed it back to its mate.

"Minako? Am I screwing up?

Minako looked sharply at her friend, and Usagi looked away.

"What do you mean?"

"All our lives we've been dreaming about this day. When we were children, we used to dream
about our weddings. We had elaborate plans, and we had picked out the perfect men. We knew
exactly what we wanted them to be. We knew everything down to the last detail." Usagi
paused before turning her gaze back to Minako. "And here I am, on my wedding day, dressed
in my dream dress, in my dream church. It's just hard to believe."

"I know. It's pretty crazy. I mean, your getting married! My best friend is getting
married." Minako smiled. "I'm so happy for you."

Usagi crossed the room to the window, and sat on the window seat. She watched the people
gathering outside of the church for a few minutes before speaking again.

"I'm scared, Minako." Usagi looked up at her friend. "I'm terrified. Nothing this good
happens to a person. Nothing this perfect... What if Mamoru is too good to be true? What
if nothing turns out the way I expect it to?"

"A fine time to be thinking about this..." Minako muttered. "Usagi, do you honestly believe
that? Do you believe that you deserve less than perfect?"

"I..." Usagi faltered. "Maybe its just pre-wedding jitters."

"Maybe." Minako nodded her agreement.

Usagi turned her attention back outside and saw that the crowd had thinned substantially.
Everyone must be inside ready, and waiting, for her. Was she ready? Was she ready to walk
down the aisle and commit herself to one person forever?

Usagi sighed and brushed a tendril from her face. A movement in the large oak tree near the
window caught her attention. Usagi smiled as she realized the movement was caused by a
small blue bird hopping along one of the branches. Her smile widened as she realized it was
a young bird, ready to test his wings for the first time.

The bird leapt into the air, and began flapping his wings furiously. Usagi's eyes widened
in horror as the bird began to fall towards the ground. One hand flew to her mouth to
stifle a cry.

A larger blue bird chirped wildly, flapping its wings in a frenzied motion while remaining
on the branch. The younger bird responded and took off flying, soaring higher that the
tree. Usagi followed the bird with her eyes until she could no longer see it. With a smile
remaining on her face, Usagi turned back to Minako.

"Its time, isn't it?"

"Yes. Here are your gloves." Minako handed Usagi the satin gloves she had tossed away so
carelessly. Usagi pulled them on before accepting her bouquet of roses from Minako. Minako
carefully lifted Usagi's veil over her hair to hide her face. The two headed for the door
and slowly made their way towards the main entrance of the chapel.

Nervousness flittered through Usagi's stomach, and she tried to swallow. She clutched the
bouquet tightly and shut her eyes briefly. She stumbled forward and was barely able to
catch herself in her anxiety.

"Here we go." Minako whispered softly before the large doors were pulled open. Usagi took a
deep breath and stepped forward. As she stood at the entrance of the church, she looked up
the aisle and her hidden eyes connected with Mamoru's.

It was that exact moment that she knew. She knew that he was the one she had dreamed of as
a child. He was the perfect man she had hoped for all her life, and he was the one that
would help her fly.
