The next morning, Serena stretched in her bed. She noticed that there were clean, new
clothes on the trunk at the foot of her bed. Serena decided to take a quick shower
before dressing.
Once she was through, she inspected herself in the mirror, surprised at how well the
clothes fit. Shrugging, she left her room and went downstairs for the first time since
she had moved in. Serena headed to the kitchen where she found Jed and Darien.
"Morning." She greeted. Both men looked surprised to see her up and about, but greeted
her in a friendly manner.
"Do you feel up to some visitors today, Serena?" Darien asked her as he sipped his coffee.
"Your friends are very worried and want to see you."
"Sure. I might remember them if I see them." Serena poured herself a glass of orange juice.
"Yes, you might." Darien agreed. "They'll be here any minute now."
As if on cue, the doorbell rang. Serena set her glass of juice down and turned to answer
the door. When she opened the wooden door, she was greeted with the sight of four girls.
"Serena!" The first cried, throwing her arms around her friend, with tears streaming down
her face.
"Serena, how are you feeling?" Another asked.
The other two just hugged her tightly.
"Uhmm... Do I know you?" Serena asked.
"I told you guys she was probably experiencing amnesia. We have to be careful what we say
and do now." The blue haired one said.
"Come in please." Serena opened the door wider and shut it once the four had entered. "We
can go into the sitting room."
She led them through one of the closer doors and shut the door behind them all. Serena sat
in one of the wing back chairs. Three of the girls sat on the couch and one knelt on the
floor.
"I'm Raye." The kneeling one said. "We met at my temple, on Cherry Hill. I'm a priestess
there."
"I'm Mina... We met at school..." She was sniffling. "I can't believe Serena was in an
accident!"
"I'm Amy. My mother works in the hospital where you were. We also met at school." The
blue haired one seemed to be the calmest of them all.
"I'm Lita. We met at school." She was blunt and too the point. Serena liked her
immediately.
"Can I get you something to eat or drink?" Serena asked.
"Sure." Raye replied.
"I'll help." Lita offered. The two got up and left the sitting room. Serena led Lita to
the kitchen where Lita began pouring glasses of iced tea and Serena put some cookies on a
plate.
"They scare you, don't they? Your scared because you can't remember them and you feel
you should." Lita didn't look at Serena as she spoke.
"I... Yes, how'd you know?" Serena was astonished.
"My parents were killed in a plane crash when I was very young. I barely remember them.
I always feel guilty about it." Lita replied. "It wasn't my fault though, and neither
was this yours."
"I... Thank you Lita. I can see why I was friends with you in the first place." Serena
smiled.
"Be strong, Serena. Things will come back to you in time." Lita set the glasses on a tray
and the two headed back to the sitting room.
"Here you go." Lita set the tray on the table and Serena placed the cookies next to it.
"Maybe we can go out and do something. You know, so Serena can get to know us again."
Raye suggested.
"What about a sleep over?!" Mina exclaimed.
"I don't think she's quite ready for that." Lita laughed. "Maybe a shopping excursion?"
"I could use some new clothes..." Serena glanced down at what she was wearing. They were
nice clothes, but a bit out of fashion. "I'll just go check with Darien."
Serena left the room in search of Darien. She found him in his study, working.
"Darien? The girls want to go shopping for some new clothes." Serena said from the doorway.
"Do you feel up to it?" Darien asked.
"Yeah." Serena nodded.
"All right. Here." Darien handed her a credit card. "Don't worry about a budget, okay?"
"Thanks... I didn't expect... I.." Serena looked down at the card. It had the name Serena
Shields on it.
"I know. Go have fun, okay? And take one of my jackets. It's cold outside." Serena
nodded and went back to her friends. She held up the card.
"Let's go!"
Laughing, the five made their way to the mall on foot. As they were walking, a light snow
began to fall, reminding them all how close Christmas was.
"I bet I had all of you gifts. They were probably lost in the car wreck..." She said
quietly.
"Don't worry about it, Sere." Raye smiled at her. "It's okay. We understand."
"Thank you guys. You have been amazing and I can't even remember you..." Serena started
crying, even though she was trying to hold back the tears. "I feel so awful..."
"Oh Serena!" Amy hugged her. "You will get your memories back! We'll do everything we
can to make sure!"
Serena was surprised at her friend. Serena got the impression that this girl was always
calm and collected.
"I... Thank you." Serena replied, hugging her friend back.
"Enough of this emotional garbage. We have shopping to do!" Raye exclaimed, but Serena
saw her wiping a tear away.
As they entered the mall, all five girls were frozen. Still laughing, the glanced around
the mall.
"Where do we start?" Serena asked.
"Lorenza's!" The four called in unison. They grabbed Usagi and pulled her towards the
clothing boutique.
"This place is so expensive..." Serena whispered.
"That's right, so unless you have the money, please leave." The sales clerk told them
rudely. Mina and Amy dropped their heads and were about to leave, when Usagi pulled out
her credit card.
"Excuse me, do you take this?" She held it up. The lady looked at the name and gasped.
"Shields? As in Darien Shields?" She asked. Serena nodded. "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry! I
didn't know. I..."
"Your lucky." Serena cut her off. "I won't do anything this time, but if this ever
happens again... Come on ladies."
Serena led the four out of there, stuffing the card into her pocket.
"Wow Serena! You sure told her!" Mina giggled.
"I can't believe I did that..." She whispered.
"It's your true sense of justice, Sere." Lita whispered in her ear. Serena smiled her
thanks.
"On with the shopping!"
The five spent a very productive day at the mall. Lita, Amy, Raye and Mina helped outfit
Serena with new clothes, shoes, makeup and jewelry. By the time they were finished, it was
dark out and snowing more heavily.
"I don't wanna walk home in this..." Mina complained as they looked outside.
"Me neither." Amy bite her lip. "My mom's out of town so I can't get a lift..."
"I'll call Darien. He can send Jed in the car or something." Serena offered.
"We don't want to impose..." Raye replied.
"And I don't want my friends walking home in this weather!" Serena exclaimed. She picked up
the payphone she had been standing next to and plunked her money in. That was when she
realized she didn't know Darien's phone number. Shaking her head, she picked up the
phone book abd began flipping through. She found it, listed under the only Shields in the
phone book.
"Hi Darien? It's Serena. No, nothing's wrong, we were just wondering if we could get a
ride home. It's snowing pretty heavily. Yeah. Thanks. Okay, bye." Serena hung up.
"He'll be here soon."
"What kind of car?" Raye asked.
"A limo. He said it's the only thing that will hold us all." Serena laughed at the
star-eyed expression on Minako's face.
A few minutes later, a black limo pulled up in front of the entrance and the five girls
ran out, bags and all, and jumped in.
"Where to?" Jed asked.
"Cherry Hill Temple." Raye replied, and they were off.
Half an hour later, Jed pulled up into the drive way of Darien's home.
"Here you are, Serena." He said. Serena smiled.
"Thanks." She told him, gathering her bags. She went inside and made her way to her
room. Serena changed into her new nightgown, and climbed into her bed. She reached over
and turned her light off before bursting into tears.
