Hey guys! Sorry, I'm not gonna be able to get anymore of my
own stories out for a long time, but I've been working on some of my
co-writen stories, and this happens to be the end result! At least we
managed to get this chapter out in under two or three months... last
time it took us way too long. That's all I really needed to say, but
remember to e-mail me or Eternal Angel once you read this and tell us
what you think.

	Enjoy!

Love and Jealousy: An Unforgotten Legend
By: Eternal Angel and Jade

 Broken Hearts
 By: Jade

 The darkness is magnificent,
 The light is nearly drowned,
I struggle to move on in life,
 Despite the breaking sound.
Tears always fall, from my heart
 Always there to stay,
And no matter how hard I try to move on,
 They will never go away.
 Four small words,
 That's all it takes,
 And the tears forever stain.
 Laughing, crying, living, dying,
 They always come with pain.
But I've survived it all in the years gone by,
 And still remained.. the same.
And because I have, I now see.
There is something by *far* worse,
Than what I thought as pain.....
 One cold look,
 One broken promise,
And the world comes crashing down,
 The dreamworld fades,
 The fantasies end,
And my heart breakes into a million peices....
 Never to be found.

Chapter 3

Endymion could feel his heart breaking. He wanted to scream,
shout, jump up a rage, rant, vent his anger..... He wanted to ask her
why. Why? Why? Why?

Serenity looked away from him, away from the pain in his too
blue eyes, eyes that she could drown in if she let herself, if only
she let herself fall.... but that would never happen, she could not
*allow* it to happen. Anyways, it could never happen in the first
place, that pained her the most. "I should be going. You need to
meet with your parents, remember?"

He didn't look away from her so she shifted a few inches in
the oposite direction from where he was and fidgeted for a moment,
uncomfortable as she lookes straight ahead, not really seeing the
lake ahead, not really seeing anything but the pain in his gorgeous
blue eyes.... She stood up and walked away rather quickly. She
didn't want to look like she was running... but the pain in her
heart wouldn't just let her stride casually away either when
everything inside her was screaming to go back, go back and sit with
him, tell him everyting that was in her heart... and everything that
she was.

Endymion watched as she hurried away. He didn't know how one
person could make him feel so much pain, but she did... god it hurt...
is this is how love feels like? She couldn't leave.. not just yet...
the least she could do was to come with him now like she'd said...

Something clicked and Endymion leaped to his feet.

"Wait!!" He shouted after her, and she paused in mid step,
looking over her shoulder but not turning around. He quickly ran up
to where she was standing and laid a hand on her shoulder, feeling the
tension even before the contact. Serenity could feel her body tingle
at his touch.

"I invited you to come to the castle with me before, and my
offer still stands... come with me Sere... you don't have a lot of
time here, you said so yourself, and the least I'd like to do is spend
what little you have here with you...." Endymion fumbled. He wasn't
good with this type of stuff.

There was a brief moment of hesitation while a war waged
itself in Serenity's mind... but the feel of his strong hand on her
shoulder, the persuasive tone in his voice, the movement of his mouth
as he talked, his beautiful ocean colored eyes... all of it conspired
against her and formed the decision even before she thought about it.

She nodded her ascent, and he bent his arm for her to take,
flashing her one of the best smiles he could give feeling the relief
flood through him as though a damn had burst open deep inside himself.
She rewarded him with one of her own sunny smiles, and they walked
away, arm in arm, for the palace, where Endymion swore to himself he
would convince her to stay.... no matter what.

Beryl looked again at the two, expecting to find Endymion
alone after she returned from her brief check around to make sure this
place was private... she didn't want anyone seeing her here, spying on
the prince. But, wait a minute... No!! It couldn't be?!! Her heart
panicked. That little brat was taking her man again!! Couldn't she
just leave and let Endymion come back to her? Couldn't she just get
lost and mind her own business!!

Beryl's jealousy blinded her. She could only plot for
revenge... but how??

	  Serenity's
mind exclaimed. But she couldn't say no to him... he seemed to make
her melt. And she had this strange feeling that she did the same to
him.

<....And I better make the best of it then. I wanted to spend
my day here happily, not crying in the grass somewhere by the lake.>

"Do you believe in water spirits?" Serenity asked all of a
sudden, knowing that she had to know, considering telling him more
than she knew she should....

Endymion frowned. "I'm not sure, haven't thought of it. I
don't think so. Barely anyone believes about that legend. I mean, why
could there be some water spirits looking down at us and protecting us
when we can take care of ourselves? What would they be there for? No
one has ever attacked the earth before."

Serenity thought to herself. Serenity's heart sank.

"Ohh." Was all she managed to utter aloud. Her heart sank
even lower, slipping to ground level. He didn't believe......

"Why, do you believe in it?"

She started, not sure what to say to the question... then
nodded. "I am positive that they are up there. Looking down at us
and protecting us. They get really lonely up there." The last part
she said softly and with sincere sadness in her voice. She of all
people should know just how very lonely it *could* get up there.

"Mother will love you. She believes in all of these types of
thing." He held his breath, hoping she wouldn't object to the
visit... he knew how important a meeting like this could be, and what
it could mean as well, but if she turned him down....

Serenity saw his sudden tension, but brushed it off, not
knowing its cause, not really wanting to know. "Ohh... Good. You
should believe in them you know. They have sacrificed many things
just to protect you." She said, knowing full well he would never
comprehend the full ramifications tied to that small sentence.

	"Maybe I will."

And suddenly Serenity's hope sprang back to life and the day
seemed to be outlined in a golden hue of happiness yet again.

"Mother, this is Serentiy." Endymoion introduced Serenity to
his mother when at last they reached the palace and walked into the
throne room. Raye was there, as well as the generals and Serenity
smiled at them all. The look was returned heartily.

Turning her attention back to the queen she curtsied. "It is
very nice to meet you." Serenity's said, her voice nervious, yet
calm. It sounded like the voice of a princess and the queen smiled
down at the blond child before her.

"My dear, stand up. It is nice to meet you too. You are such
a beautiful young girl. Your mother must be proud of you." The queen
replied.

"Oh, she is." Serenity answered. A faint smile played on her
lips as she thought of the woman whom many people feared, and many
 more loved.

"Well, is she going to stay for the ball?" The queen asked
Endymion.

"The ball??" Endymion said, confused. Since when had there
ever been talk of a ball? And for when was it to be?

"Endy, aren't you forgetful. It's the lunar ball that we
have each year!" Raye exclaimed. The confusion dissipated from his
face and a gleam that hadn't been there before entered his eyes.

"I'm not sure. Sere? You coming to the ball?" Endymion
hoped that she would say yes. It would let him have more time to
spend with her, and perhaps he'd even be able to coax a dance from
her...

"I'm not sure. I have to leave at midnight." Serenity
answered. She wanted to go, but she couldn't. Or could she? Nothing
had been said of when the ball was taking place, and she knew that
this would be her only chance to spend all the time she wanted to with
Endymion and her newfound friends.

"Come on dear. The ball starts at 6:00. You will have plenty
of time." The queen said. Something about this girl was strong. She
didn't know what it was, but she knew it was there. And aura of
innocence and power seemed to surround her, and her face was an honest
one with eyes of crystal blue.... the queen very much doubted that the
girl could tell a lie without it showing.

"I guess so." Serenity answered, uncertain.

"Ohh my god! Its 2:00!!! I gotta get ready!! Come on
Sere!!!" Raye exclaimed, pulling Serentiy with her, dragging her from
the throne room so fast Serenity nearly tripped over her own skirts.

 * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : *

Raye dragged Serenity down the palace hallways until she
reached her own room, where she knew the other would be waiting for
her. Serenity, standing beside her was gasping for the breath she had
been denied when Raye had raced off with her and she shot the raven
haired girl an annoyed glare before the doors in front of them were
thrown open and Mina grabbed the two of them by the collars before
pulling them inside.

"Where have you been?!?! We've ben worried about you! We
thought maybe somebody might hurt you, or that you might fall into the
lake, or that you've get lost, or-"

"I needed to be alone for a few minutes." Serenity said,
cutting Mina off before she could say anything more. "I was at the
edge of the lake, and Enymion found me and broguth me back here to
meet his mother."

Lita, Mina, and Ami's heads all snapped up. "He... He brought
you to meet his mother?" Lita gasped, obviously taken aback. Sere
gave her a strange look and slowly nodded her head.

"Yes... he did... why? Is there something wrong with that?"
Now it was the others turn to stare at her.

"You mean.... you honestly don't know?" Raye asked, shock
apparent in her eyes as she realized that Serenity truely had no idea
of the ramifications of her meeting with the queen.

"No.... know what?" Serenity questioned, suddenly almost
frightened at the seriousness that had entered Ray's eyes.

"Sere... no one goes in to see the queen without specific
permission from both the prince, and myself, and clearance or a good
word from all the generals. You have to either be someone very
important, or someone who means a lot to Endymion... and Endymion has
never brought a girl to see his mother before. The only time a prince
ever does that, is if she's either a very good friend of the family or
himself, a relative... or if he's considering courting her."

Serenity's eyes looked so wide they seemed ready to burst.
"Cour... cour... he meant that.. he never mentioned anyting about this
before.. he can't be trying to court me... maybe he just considers me
a very good friend?" She asked, hoping that that was the truth...
god, perhaps coming here was more trouble than it was worth.. as least
before she'd thought that he'd only had a strong affection for her..
but to consider courting her.... she'd hoped at least, that when she
left, she wouldn't hurt him as well. That at least his heart would
stay in tact.

Raye shared a look with Lita and Ami and then shrugged. "Who
knows Sere... maybe he really does just consider you a friend." She added silently.

Sere was relieved, but still uneasy. "Well... that's good.. I
mean.. since I'm leaving and all... I wouldn't want to complicate
things anymore than they already are."

"Right... well, I guess we should really start to get ready...
Hey, Sere! Do you have a dress to wear?"

Serenity glanced up, startled, broken from her own thoughts.
"A dress? No... um... I really only have what I'm wearing now." She
gestured to her dress and Raye gave it a scepticle look before her
face lit up with a devilish glow and she suddenly turned back to the
other three, leaning down to whisper somethng to them all, low enough
that they could hear, but Sere could not. She watched Raye curiously,
wondering what was going ot happen next.

She got her answer when Mina suddenly leapt up from where
she'd been sitting in a plush cushioned chair and crowed, "Yes!! This
is great! We're gonna have to much fun!" Serenity gazed up at her in
surprise and then jerked as Raye grabbed her ahdn and began drgging
her out of the room again, Lita, Mina, and Ami hot on their heels.

"Hey, wha-... where are we going?!" Serenity shouted when she
got her footing and began to jog alongside Raye to avoid being pulled
along.

"To town!" Was her response and the others all grinned and
began to run faster.

        "To town? But.. what for?"

"Shopping!!!" They all chorused and that was the last of that
conversation.

* : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : * : *

"Wow! You all look so pretty!" Serenity exclaimed, and then
paused momentarily to consider the truth of her words.

Of all the five of them, Serenity had been the one to choose
her dress the fastest. The others had all taken forever, going from
shop to shop and insisting at looking and trying on every one, even if
it wasn't their type or color. Serenity had taken the first one that
had caught her eye... she supposed she didn't know much about shopping
as this was the first she'd heard of it before.

Raye's dress looked the darkest of them all. It was made of
sheer chiffon, with a low cut neckline and it was the most lovely ruby
red color. The bodice was snug without being uncomfortable, and at
her hips the skirt of the dress flared out and billowed about her legs
until it reached her ankles, where her feet were adorned in low healed
shoes of the same color as the dress. Her hair had been left down and
flowed like black silk all the way to her waist. She worse red gloves
to match her dress, and small star earrings as well. Atop her head
she wore a crown of gold lines with gems. She looked exactly like the
princess she was.

Ami's dress was somewhat simular, but also different. It was
made of the same material as Raye's but hers was a little lessa
extravagant. The bodice on hers wasn't tight at all, but fit loosely
around her so that it didn't hide her form, but didn't exactly flaunt
it either. The dress itself was a soft ice blue color, and the sleeves
were puffed up, but then ended up long and reached all the way to her
wrists where white-blue pearls glittered in the light. She wore soft
blue slippers on her feet and in her blue hair she'd wove small
clusters of babies-breath so that it accented the pale highlights in
her hair and brought attention to the teardrop earrings that hung from
her ears.

Lita's dress was made of a stunningly soft material and it was
a dark emerald green color, only shades different from her eyes. The
dress itself was simple, with inch wide straps to hold it in place
that covered her shoulders and got wider towards her midback, leaving
a lot of her pale skin to see. It was form-fitting all the way to her
hips and it clung to them slightly, accenting her figure nicely.
Instead of wearing her hair in its customary ponytail, she'd caught
most of it up in a french twist and allowed small whispy curls to hang
down so that they framed her face beautifully. She'd never looked
prettier, and all the girls were impressed, not to mention shocked, at
how femenine she appeared.

Mina, of course, had chosen a dress that matched her hair. It
shone like gold and was a bit more complex as the others as even
darker golden threat had been woven into the fine material so that it
all appeared to gliiter in the light. She'd worn her hair down, only
held back from her face by a golden clip in the shape of a triangle.
It was lined with topz jewels, and she wore earrings of the same type.
Her feet were clad in yellow-gold shoes and like Raye, she worse
gloves as well.

But Serenity outshone them all. She worse a dress of the
finest silk made of a shimmering white that was so pure it actually
shone as though it were made of pearl when she walked. The top of the
dress hugged her body like a second skin, showing off her slim, supple
figure to the best advantage. The sleeves of the dress weren't puffed
up, but the silk covered her shoulders and then a translucent silver-
white lace took over, covering her arms all the way down to her wrists
where a bracelet of tiny diamonds overlayed white cuffs. The skirts
of the dress were whit silk as well, and flowed almost straight down
to the ground. A fine layer of silver-white lace, like that of her
sleeves, overlaped the silk and at her ankles, where the dress came to
a halt, she wore silver colored dancing shoes.

Her endlessly long golden hair had been let down from its
original style and flowed down her back like nothing the others had
ever seen. Somehow, when the other four hadn't been looking, Serenity
had managed to add silver highlights to her hair that hadn't been
there before. They couldn't know, of course, that she'd used a simple
spell to do it, but the finished effect was astounding. Let free, her
golden-silver hair pooled on the floor around her feet and none of
them knew anyone that had ever had hair that long. Mina, who was
more-or-less the expert on hair style used two diamond combs to pull
the hair from her face and pin it back, then she gathered as much of
the top part of her hair as she could into a flat bun and let the
rest of it hang free. All of their dresses had cost a small fortune,
but the money didn't matter. The others all wanted Serenity to look
her best so they brought her a diamond tiara that belonged to the
royal family, daimond stud earrings, and a silver necklace with a
diamond pendant that dangled in the hollow of her collar bone. Her
blue eyes were sparkling with happiness and although she wore
absolutely no make-up, her expression set a glow about her face and
her cheeks were flushed. She looked positively gorgeous, and all of
them commented that she looked like royalty herself. Serenity didn't
tell them that that was what she was, as well as a half god.

"Yep!" Raye grinned in response to Serenity's comment, and
then the fice of them heard the clock chime five o'clock.

It was time for the festivities to begin, and of all of them,
Serenity was the most nervous. She'd never been to any formal event
before, despite her position, and she knew why.... she didn't even
know how to dance, althoughshe didn't really expect to anyway... but
thoughts of Endymin came to mind and she quickly shoved them down
before they totally frayed her remainging nerves.

"Oh my gosh! Are we ready? Do we have everything? We're
set, right? We don't need anything else? Do I look alright? Are
you guys sure my hair's o.k? I mean, I shouldn't-"

"You look wonderful Mina." Sere said quietly, and silently
commented that it was far from a calming lie she told.

Mina look slightly mollified, but at that moment there was a
knock on the door and Malachite's voice could be heard, "Princess?
Ladies? We are here to escort you to the ball."

All five looked at each other, then back at the door where the
knock had come from. Serenity knew Endymion was not at the door. She
couldn't sense his presense, but the four generals were, and that gave
her some comfort... at least she'd be going in with everyone she'd met
so far, and liked.

She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and then composed
herself, rising to her feet like the princess she was, but then, would
never be... not in the sense that Raye was.

The other four looked at her and grinned. Oh, yes, this was
going to be fun... Endmyion was likely to fall out of his chair when he
saw the vision Serenity presented.

Serenity's thoughts were very different from the other, but it
didn't show in the slightest on her face. She could feel the
butterflies in her stomach, but she ignored them. She
silently scolded herself as she and the others began to walk towards
the door. She straightened her spine and walked
regally forward, intent on doing everything right, so that she wouldn't
embarrass herself. Yes he could do this... she could. She wasn't about
to humiliate herself in front of all the people that would undoubtably
be there. She wouldn't.

        She hoped.
