"Serena, you have a visitor in the sitting room." Layla said as she stuck her head in
Serena's dorm room.
"Thanks." Serena smiled and looked at Molly who giggled. Serena got up and went down
to the sitting room. When she looked in, she saw an unfamiliar brunette sitting on the
love seat.
"You must be Serena." She said, standing up. "I'm Lita, a friend of Darien's."
"Hi. It's nice to meet you." Serena came in and sat down across from Lita.
"I just wanted to meet the girl who changed Darien." Lita laughed. "We've been friends
forever and I never thought I'd see the day!"
"Changed Darien?" Serena asked.
"You mean you don't even realize what you've done?" Lita asked, sitting back down. She
laughed. "This is too good!"
"What do you mean?" Serena was beyond confused at this point.
"Since Darien met you, and started dating you, he's calmed down a lot. I seriously mean
a lot. He's gotten into fewer fights and he's started taking school more seriously.
Serena, you have made Darien a better man." Serena was stunned. She hadn't done
anything.
"I.. I don't think I.."
"Oh Serena it's so wonderful!" Lita exclaimed. "You are so perfect for him! You two
make such a dreamy couple..."
"Thanks..." Serena smiled. "How did you and Darien meet?"
"I was six and he was nine. We met at the park. The orphanage would always make him go
with the younger kids and my parents took me a lot." Lita replied.
"Orphanage?" Serena asked.
"Oh, he didn't tell you?" Lita bit her lip. "I probably shouldn't tell you then."
"That's okay." Serena smiled.
"He's so much happier because of you, Serena. I'm glad for you both." Lita told her.
"Thank you. It means a lot to me hearing that from his friend." Serena smiled.
"Well, I have to get going back to work." Lita stood up. "If I leave the restaurant for
too long, who knows what will happen!"
"Restuarant? You own the restaurant that Darien...?" Serena asked.
"Yes. That's mine. A family business." Lita smiled.
"Well, it was really nice meeting you." Serena stood and shook Lita's hand.
"You too! I hope to see a lot more of you." Lita followed Serena to the door.
"Bye Lita." Serena shut the door behind Lita and turned around. She headed towards the
stairs, but felt a hand grab her arm and pull her into the music room.
"Serena." It was Layla. Serena reached over and flicked on the lights.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Serena asked, gently.
"I know you are dating Darien, and I'm happy for you, really! I mean, Raye is my
bestfriend, but he never really liked her. He only dated her to be nice and because
she was so persistant." Layla paused. "Serena, Raye, like us, comes from a rich
family. Her parents intensely disapproved of her dating him because it looks bad,
socially. I don't know your parents, but I think you might run into the same problem.
Darien isn't rich, by any means. He's struggling through university and his image
is... Well, he's a bad boy. I don't want you to get hurt."
Serena smiled at Layla.
"Thank you, for caring. I'll be okay though." She squeezed Layla's hand. "My
parents won't care who I date, I don't think, and I know Darien has some feelings
for me, since it's he who keeps initiating our dates."
"I'm glad then." Layla seemed relieved. "See ya."
Layla left the music room, and Serena sat down to think.
It was true, Darien wasn't part of the class she was, but she didn't care. She wasn't
so sure about her parents. Serena had never dated anyone before and she wasn't sure
if her parents had some sort of standard.
Sighing, Serena stood up and went up to her room. Maybe Molly would be able to help
her figure this out.
"Hey Sere." Molly greeted.
"Molly, you know my parents, right?"
"Yeah." Molly nodded, not looking up from her drawing. Serena glanced down to see that
Molly was drawing a picture of Serena. She smiled fondly at her friend.
"Do you think they would care if I date someone from a lower class, so to speak?" Serena
asked in a rush.
Molly's head shot up and she looked at Serena.
"Whose worried about this?"
"Layla said something about when Raye and Darien used to date, Raye's parents didn't
like it. Do you think my parents would be that way?" Serena asked.
"Do you care?" Molly asked. "Do you care if Darien is a lower class?"
"Not at all! I dodn't even think about it!" Serena exclaimed.
"Then don't think about it now. Love is love, not matter how much money you have."
Molly reassured her.
"Thanks Mol. Do you want to go out for a shake, or something?" Serena asked. "You
never get out! Come on!"

Okay, short, but I'm trying! Really!
