"Hello? Chiba Mamoru speaking." It was Friday afternoon and Mamoru was
tired. He just wanted to go home to Yuki and Usagi...

'Mamoru! Get a grip on yourself!'

"Hi, Mamoru-san!  It's me, Usagi."

Mamoru smiled at the sound of her voice.

"Hi."

"I was wondering if the barbeque tomorrow is still on?" She asked him.

"Yes! It is. You are coming, right?" Mamoru asked her.

"I just need to know the vitals, like what time, place..." She let her
voice trail off.

"What if I pick you up at your place?" Mamoru asked. "It might be easier."

"Okay. What time are you going to drop by and what should I bring?" She
asked him.

"Yourself in another bikini would be nice..." Mamoru teased her. Usagi
laughed.

"Seriously, though. Is there anything I should bring?"

"I don't think so. Unazuki just really wants to get to know you better."

"Why's that?" Usagi asked.

"I'm not sure... Anyway, I'll be by around nine. Is that okay?" Mamoru
glanced at his calendar. "I should be free that day, and if I leave my
cell and pager at home..."

"Aw Mamoru-san! You can't do that!" Usagi scolded with a giggle. "What
would the hospital do without you?"

"I don't know, Usagi-chan.  I just don't know." Mamoru sighed.

"Chiba-sensei to room 305. Chiba-sensei to room 305."

"I can hear them paging you even now, Mamoru-san. You'd better get
back to work!"

"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Bye!"

"Bye." Mamoru set the phone back in it's cradle and stood up, heading
towards room 305.

~~

Yuki raced up to the door, with Mamoru right behind her. He pulled open the
door and stepped into the lobby of the apartment building.

"Can I push the button?" Yuki asked.

"No, you might push the wrong one, but you can talk." Mamoru promised her.
His eyes scanned the list of names until they fell on Tsukino Usagi. He
pushed the small button and waited for Usagi to answer.

"Hello?"

"Tsukino-sensei! We're here!" Yuki told her in a sing song voice.

"Okay Yuki-chan! I'll be right down." Usagi replied.

A few minutes later, Usagi stepped off the elevator and pulled open the door
to let them into the main foyer of her apartment.

"Ready to go?" Mamoru asked her. Usagi nodded.

"Come on!" Yuki grabbed Usagi's hand and started pulling her towards the
front doors.

"Relax, Yuki-chan." Mamoru called after the eager child.

Suddenly Usagi got an idea. She gently pulled her hand away from Yuki
and said,

"I'll race you to the car!"

Yuki and Usagi took off towards the parking lot of her building. Mamoru
watched the two blondes run towards his red car in amusement. They were
so much alike, easily mistaken for mother and daughter. Mamoru smiled as
he approached the car himself.

"Who won?" He asked, slipping his key into the lock and opening Usagi's
door.

"Me." Yuki told him proudly, climbing into the back seat. Usagi laughed
and slid into the front seat.

The drive to Unazuki's was quiet. Mamoru explained that it was Yuki's
grandparents house, and that it was mostly Unazuki's friends who would be
there.

When they arrived, Yuki shot out ot the car and towards the front door.
Mamoru and Usagi got out of the car and watched as Yuki went into the
house, shouting that Tsukino-sensei was there.

"I should warn you... The Furuhata's will be anxious to meet you,
especially since you've become such a large part of Yuki's life, and mine."

"That's okay." Usagi smiled as they made their way up the path to the front door.

"Mamoru-san! Usagi-chan! You made it!" Unazuki exclaimed as she came out
the front door.

"Hi Unazuki-chan." Mamoru greeted.

"Hi." Usagi smiled.

"It's so nice to see you again! Yuki has just been gushing about you."
Unazuki laughed.  "Come meet everyone."

Usagi followed Mamoru and Unazuki into the house and through the front foyer
to the kitchen where preparations were being made.

"Is there anything I can help with?" Usagi asked.

"So your Tsukino-sensei." A deep male voice greeted. Usagi turned to see a
tall sandy blonde haired man standing behind her.

"Yes, I'm Tsukino Usagi." She told him.

"I'm Yuki's grandfather."

"I'm pleased to meet you Furuhata-san."

"Well, you boys go outside and get that grill started! Leave us women to the
kitchen and gossip!"

"Mother!" Unazuki exclaimed.  Usagi laughed.

"I agree. Out with you!" Usagi shooed Mamoru towards the door. Laughing,
Mamoru went out the back door with Yuki's grandfather right behind him.

"I'm Amai. You teach Yuki at school, right?"

"Yes, I do. Yuki is a brilliant child, one of the brightest in the class."
Usagi replied. "It's really a pleasure to teach her."

"It must be, with all the time you spend with her and Mamoru." Unazuki
teased.  Usagi laughed.

"So tell me," Amai began slicing up some vegetables for a salad. "How is
your leg and your hand?"

Usagi looked confused for a minute before it dawned on her.

"Oh! You mean from the skating accident... Fine. My leg is healing up
quite nicely." Usagi told her. "Thank you."

"Come help me set up outside, Usagi-chan!" Unazuki practically dragged Usagi
out the backdoor, into the backyard. "So tell me! What's the deal with you
and Mamoru?"

"What do you mean?" Usagi asked as she began opening up lawn chairs.

"Oh come on! You spend all that time with him. Are you going to try to
tell me you don't like him? Besides, I've seen the way he looks at you."

Usagi blushed.

"Well, nothing really... I mean, whenever anything even starts to happen,
we're interrupted so..." Usagi shrugged.

"Oh really?" Unazuki bit her lip, then smiled. "What if I take Yuki off your
hands tonight. The two of you could go out..."

"Unazuki-chan! I don't even know if Mamoru wants to." Usagi told her,
laughing.

"Oh, he wants to. Trust me! I mean, who wouldn't?"

Usagi just laughed.

~~

"Tsukino-sensei, would you like to play tag?" Yuki asked, looking up at her
beloved teacher. All of Unazuki's friends had shown up, and they had eaten
and been sitting around talking for quite some time.

"Yuki-chan! Let your teacher rest!" Amai scolded.

"But Grandma!!" Yuki whined. Usagi laughed.

"I'd love to play, Yuki-chan." Usagi stood up and stretched. "So whose
'it'?"

"You are!" Yuki exclaimed running off. Usagi took off after Yuki who was
running all over the large backyard.

"Tag! Your 'it'!" Usagi touched Yuki's shoulder before turning and
running away from Yuki. Laughter flooded the backyard as everyone
watched the two.

"Tag! Now your 'it'!" Yuki had caught Usagi. This time, Usagi didn't
go after Yuki, but Unazuki.

"Your 'it'."

"Hey? Who even said I was playing?" Unazuki exclaimed, but she took
off after Yuki.

"No Auntie! Get Tsukino-sensei!" Yuki shrieked, laughing.

"Alright..." Unazuki took off after Usagi, who raced around the backyard.
Once she had tagged Usagi, Usagi headed towards Mamoru and leaned towards
him. Usagi tapped Mamoru on the shoulder and took off across the backyard.
Mamoru's laughter stopped abruptly, and he too began running across the
backyard.

"I'll get you!" He called after Usagi who just laughed in response.

Unazuki collapsed in a chair next to her mother as the family watched
Usagi, Mamoru and Yuki run around in a game of tag.

"They are so cute!" Unazuki exclaimed.

"I know. I wonder why Mamoru didn't introduce her as his girlfriend though."
Amai commented.

"They aren't officially going out yet." Unazuki explained. "Everytime
something starts to happen, they're interrupted. I told her I would
take Yuki for the night so she and Mamoru could have some time alone."

"She has certainly been good to the child." Amai sighed happily.

"Yes, that she has..."

~~

As everyone started packing up to leave, Unazuki told Yuki that she
would be spending the night there.

"Really?!  Cool!" Yuki exclaimed.

"She is?" Mamoru asked.

"Yes. You two need a break." Amai told him. Mamoru laughed.

"Alright. I'll pick her up tomorrow morning then."

"It was a pleasure meeting you all." Usagi smiled. "I'll
se you Monday, Yuki-chan!"

Mamoru and Usagi headed towards his car, and Mamoru opened the door for
Usagi.

"Thanks." She slipped in and Mamoru shut her door before heading around
to the other side of the car.

"So... Would you like to do something?" Mamoru asked her nervously.

"Sure." Usagi glanced at him. "What?"

"I dunno..." Mamoru glanced at his watch. It was almost eight o'clock
and he had been up rather early that morning.

"You look tired." Usagi commented. "Why don't we just go back to your
place and I'll cook you dinner?"

"Are you sure? We could go out some place..."

"No, it's okay." Usagi smiled at him and Mamoru backed out of the driveway.
The drive to his house was filled with a comfortable silence. Usagi studied
Mamoru's profile as he drove through the dark streets of Tokyo.

'He's highly attractive...' She thought. 'Dark hair, high cheek bones,
strong jaw, to die for eyes...'

She sighed softly as her gaze drifted to the road. It was nice to spend some
time alone with Mamoru. Usagi loved Yuki, but any child could be trying, and
all she really wanted to do was throw herself in Mamoru's arms and...

'Whoa! Where did that come from?' Usagi was a little surprised at her
thinking. 'It's true though... I really like Mamoru.'

Usagi laughed mentally and thought her friends would be thrilled when they
learned Usagi had a new crush.

A gentle smile played across Usagi's lips as they pulled up into Mamoru's
driveway.

~~

"Where do you keep the white wine?" Usagi asked as she was rummaging through
Mamoru's cupboard.

"In the next cupboard, top shelf." Mamoru replied.

Usagi opened the cupboard and reached up, trying to get the wine. Her
finger tips brushed against the bottle, teasing her. It was just out of
reach.

Before Usagi could get a stool, Mamoru reached up from behind her, and
pulled the bottle down. Usagi froze as his body pressed up against hers.
Mamoru set the bottle on the counter, his hand lingering against her stomach.
Slowly, reluctantly, he steped away from Usagi.

"Thanks..." She breathed.  Mamoru smiled.

"No problem."

Usagi picked up the bottle, and uncorked it. She turned around and poured
some of the wine into the pot.

"It certainly smells good." Mamoru told her, trying to lighten the mood. He
went into a different cupboard and got two wine glasses. He poured some of
the white wine into each of the glasses, and handed one to Usagi. Usagi
sipped the wine, before stirring the contents of the pot.

"It's just about ready." She told him. The pot was boiling, and the red
liquid splashed out, all over Usagi's white dress.

"Oh no!" She exclaimed, and grabbed a cloth from the sink. She began wiping
at the stain, to no avail.

"Here." Mamoru took the cloth from her. "Go change and I'll put that in the
wash."

"Change into what?" Usagi asked.

"Anything from my closet." He grinned. Usagi went up the stairs to Mamoru's
room and went into his closet. She looked over a bunch of the shirts before
settling on a white one, similar to that which she had worn earlier. She
slipped off her dress and pulled on the shirt.

When she got back to the kitchen, Mamoru had taken her pot off the stove.
He took her dress from her and went into a small room off the main foyer.
Usagi could hear the washing machine filling with water, then spinning. She
laughed at Mamoru when he got back.

"It's so nice to meet a guy who can do laundry!" She teased. Mamoru
laughed.

"You don't have a five year old without learning how to do laundry."

"True..." Usagi nodded. She began dishing out two bowls of soup for Mamoru
and herself.

"This is amazing!" Mamoru exclaimed as he ate it. Usagi laughed.

"It's my mom's receipe." She told him.

Silence filled the kitchen as the two ate in peace. Usagi's eyes kept
drifting to Mamoru, who was watching her intently. Everytime their eyes
met, Usagi blushed and looked away.

"Are you finished?" She asked him, before taking his bowl and putting it,
with hers, in the sink. Mamoru came up behind her again, and gently brushed
her hair off her shoulder.

"I think that shirt looks better on you..." he whispered in her ear. Usagi
blushed again, and turned to face him.

"You think so?" She asked.

"Yeah..." Mamoru told her, caressing her cheek gently. Usagi's eyes drifted
closed as Mamoru leaned towards her.

Their lips met in a gentle kiss. Mamoru cupped Usagi's cheek as he
continued to kiss her. Usagi's hands slipped around his neck and she pulled
him closer to her. Mamoru lost his hands in her hair, as the passion in
their kiss increased.

"Usagi..." Mamoru murmured huskily in her ear. He lifted her up so that she
sat on his counted, against the wall.

"Mamoru..." Usagi was swept away with passion as Mamoru's lips made a trail
across her cheek and down her neck.

The phone next to her head rang, startling both of them. Usagi moaned, but
Mamoru's lips never stopped caressing her neck. Usagi picked up the phone.

"Yes?" She asked. "He's busy now." Usagi slammed the phone back down as
Mamoru's lips met hers once more.

~~

The next morning, Usagi woke up feeling warm and safe. She was snuggled
against Mamoru, who had his arms around her protectively.

"Mmm..." Usagi sighed blissfully. Mamoru's cologne flooded her senses,
even as he continued to sleep.

'He must not get too many mornings to sleep in. Either work or Yuki must
always wake him up.' She thought as she watched him sleep.

He looked absolutely adorable. His midnight looked unkempt and attractive
as he fell across his forehead. Usagi reached up and brushed it back, so
that she could get a better look at his sleeping face.

"Darling Mamo-chan..." She whispered. Mamoru seemed to smile in his sleep.
Usagi snuggled deeper into his embrace before falling back asleep herself.

~~

Mamoru slowly opened his eyes, and all he could see was gold. There were
masses of silky gold in front of him, and he smiled.

"Usako..."

The petite blonde was lying peacefully in his arms, a gentle smile on her
still sleeping lips.

Mamoru ran a hand through her hair, brushing it from her face. He couldn't
believe that she was here, with him, in his room, in his bed... His train
of thought brought a blush to his face as he remembered the previous night.

She had looked so beautiful in the button down shirt, that Mamoru had lost
control. He had just ravaged her with kisses, ignoring the phone which
she somehow dealt with. He wasn't quite sure what she had said, and he
was pretty sure he would have to kiss up to someone when he went back to
work, but he didn't care.

Usagi mumbled something in her sleep, and snuggled closer to Mamoru, who
was only happy to oblige. He held her tighter, nuzzling his head against
her hair, before his eyes drifted shut once more.

~~

Unazuki slowly opened Mamoru's bedroom door, although she was already pretty
sure what she would find. She had made Yuki stay in the kitchen, absolutely
silent while she went up to check if Usagi and Mamoru were... otherwise
occupied.

She smiled at the adorable site the two made, snuggled together among the
dark sheets Mamoru insisted on using. Unazuki shut the door and went back
down to the kitchen.

"Uhmm... Yuki-chan? Would you be interested in going to the zoo or
something?"

~~

It wasn't until late afternoon that Usagi and Mamoru woke again. Usagi's
eyes slowly fluttered open, and she found herself staring into the deepest
blue eyes she had ever seen.

"Mamoru..." her voice was husky from sleep.

"'morning, Usako." Mamoru replied, kissing Usagi briefly on the lips.

"It's not morning anymore." She told him. Mamoru laughed.

"I guess not."

"Where's Yuki?" Usagi shot up in bed, concerned for the little girl.
Mamoru chuckled again, before pulling Usagi back to him.

"Her Aunt still has her." He whispered, kissing Usagi's earlobe gently.

"Mmm..." Usagi sighed happily.  "Mamo-chan..."

"I think I like that name." He told her, before capturing her lips with his
own, for a soul-searing kiss.

~~~
It wasn't until late that evening that either Usagi or Mamoru made any
attempt to get out of the bed they had been occupying all day, and even
then it was reluctantly.
"Just stay here, Usako...  I'll drop you off at work tomorrow with Yuki..."
He told her.  Usagi laughed.
"Now you have two children you have to get to school, huh?" She teased,
before throwing the covers back.  "I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because.  I haven't been home in twenty four hours.  My friends and
family will be worried sick!  My answering machine tape is probably all
used up!"
Usagi was pulling on Mamoru's shirt again, which had been tossed carelessly
into the corner of his room.  Mamoru remained in the bed, watching her as
she buttoned the shirt up.
"What?" She asked, confused.
"Nothing." Mamoru continued to watch her.  Usagi looked at him puzzled.
"Is something wrong?" She asked.
"No." Mamoru replied.  Usagi knelt on the bed and crawled towards him.
"Why are you staring at me?" She asked, nose to nose with him.  Mamoru
laughed, and tossed Usagi onto her back, before kissing her nose lightly.
"For fun."
"Oh!  You are worse than my students!" Usagi exclaimed, before sitting up
and pushing Mamoru off her.  Mamoru looked hurt as Usagi got off his bed
and crossed his room.
"My hair's a mess!" She exclaimed, looking into his mirror.  Mamoru got out
of bed and pulled on a pair of boxers.  He picked up a brush from his dresser
and began brushing through Usagi's tangled hair.
"This is what you get when you fool around!" He scolded her.  Usagi raised an
eyebrow and looked at his reflection.
"And whose fault was it that I was 'fooling around' last night?" She asked
him.  Mamoru laughed.
"You got me there."
Usagi stood patiently as Mamoru finished brushing through her hair.
"You have a lot of hair." He commented as he brushed her hair to a high
gloss.
"I know." Usagi sighed.  "I was thinking of cutting it."
"No!  Don't do that!" Mamoru exclaimed.  "I love your hair."
Mamoru ran his fingers through her long blonde tresses and nuzzled his nose
against her neck.  Usagi sighed and leaned against him.  Mamoru wrapped
his arms around her.
"I love everything about you." He whispered into her ear.
"Does that mean you even love taking me home now?" She asked back.  Mamoru
sighed.
"If I have to..."
"I would appreciate it, since I don't have a car here."
Mamoru chuckled.
"I'll go get your dress." He left the room and went down stairs.  Usagi
collected all her personal items, and decided she should leave a few things
at Mamoru's house, for the next time something came up...
"It's still wet, so I hung it up." Mamoru told her as he came back into his
room.  "You can just wear that home, I guess."
"Alright."
Mamoru pulled on a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt before leading
Usagi downstairs.
The drive to her place was silent, but as she started to get out, Mamoru
caught her arm.
"Where does this leave us?" He asked her.
"What do you mean?"
"I can't be having casual flings...  Not with Yuki to think of." He told her.
Mamoru was unable to meet her gaze, afraid of what she would say.  Usagi
smiled in the dark car before leaning over and kissing his cheek.
"I love you.  Where does that leave us?"
Quickly she got out of the car and ran into her apartment, leaving Mamoru
to puzzle everything out on his own.
