Usagi sat her desk re-arranging the photos that she had placed there.
She wanted everything to be perfect. This was, after all, her first
day on the job. Usagi shut her eyes and tried to relax.

As the bell rang, her blue eyes flashed open. She quickly got out of
her chair and went to the door. With a bright smile on her face, Usagi
opened the door to greet her brand new class.

Suddenly, a stream of children came rushing into the classroom. Usagi
laughed merrily at the enthusiasm she knew she once possessed for school.
Usagi noticed the parents hanging around the door, watching the new
teacher curiously. With the smile still on her face, Usagi looked at the
parents.

"Hi. I'm Tsukino Usagi." Usagi said. The parents smiled at the young
teacher's friendly nature. They called last minute good byes to their
children, before dashing off to work. Usagi turned to her class that was
standing, watching her.

"Hello. I'm Tsukino-sensei. You can all take your bags off, and your
jackets, and put them on the hook labeled with your name." Usagi pointed
towards the back of the classroom. The children responded immediately
and began to rush towards the back of the classroom.

"No running indoors please!" Usagi called.

The children glanced back at her and moved more slowly. Once they had
all settled their stuff down, Usagi had them sit at the tables. She
had already set out paper and crayons.

"Why don't you draw a picture of what activities you did this summer?"
Usagi suggested, smiling brightly at her kindergarten class. She
drifted from table to table as the children began working happily.

Everything was working fine, despite her nervousness earlier. It was
then that Usagi heard the screaming outside her door.

"But I don't wanna go to school!!!" Usagi quickly stood up from the
table she was at and went to her doorway to see what was causing the fuss.

The picture Usagi saw was heartbreaking. A small blond child was crying.
Her arms were clasped around the leg of the man who was trying to bring
her to school. Usagi recognized the tactic she had used on her own father
many, many times.

"Yuki-chan! Why don't you want to go to school?" The man asked, smiling
softly at his daughter. He reached down and removed her from his leg, and
knelt down to her level.

"It's so scary." Yuki replied. She whispered it to him, as though she was
sharing the greatest secret in the world. Usagi's smile widened.

"But Yuki-chan, you wanted to go to school earlier today." The man pointed out.

"That was before I knew how scary it was!" Usagi could tell from the
child's voice that she was about to start another crying spree, so she
cut it quickly.

"Hello Yuki-chan." Usagi said from the doorway. She smiled at the little
girl whose head whipped around in surprise. Yuki looked up at Usagi
suspiciously.

"How did you know my name?" Yuki asked. The>man looked mortified, but
Usagi laughed gently.

"What other name could belong to a girl as beautiful as you?" Usagi asked.
Yuki smiled a bit.

"Who are you?" she asked curiously. Usagi noticed that Yuki never let
her hold on the man's arm slacken.

"I'm Tsukino Usagi." Usagi replied, bending down to Yuki's height. She
offered her hand, and Yuki stepped forward to shake it. The man stood
up and smiled at Usagi gratefully.

"I'm Furuhata Yuki."

"Well, Yuki-chan, would you like to come join the rest of the class now?"
Usagi asked, a bit too soon. Yuki began to cry again.

"Noo!!! Mamo-chan!!" she wailed. Yuki ran back to the man and latched onto
his leg again.

"What if he were to stay with you for a while?" Usagi asked, remembering the
tactic's her first teacher had to use.

"Alright." Yuki agreed grudgingly. Usagi reached out and took Yuki's little
hand in her own and led the two into her classroom. "You can hang your coat
and backpack up here." Usagi helped Yuki out of her jacket and hung it on
the proper hook. Yuki never let her eyes leave the tall, dark haired man
she called Mamo-chan.

"I want to colour now." Yuki stated calmly.

"Okay, why don't you go join the other children? Your father and I will
be over there talking." Usagi pointed to the corner of the room where her
desk was. Yuki nodded and skipped over to an empty spot at one of the
tables. Usagi made her way towards her desk, with Yuki's Mamo-chan in tow.

"I'm Chiba Mamoru." Mamoru offered his hand to the teacher.

"Tsukino Usagi." Usagi replied, shaking his firmly. She was slightly
puzzled at his last name.

"I'm sorry about all that. Yuki is usually far more angelic." Mamoru
said as he watched Yuki colouring happily.

"Don't worry about it. I'm sure I was much worse when I went to kindergarten."
Usagi replied. She smiled fondly at the children in her room.

"I should probably explain her situation. I'm not actually her father but I
am raising her. Both of her parents were killed shortly after she was born."
Mamoru said softly. "I'm her Godfather and have raised her ever since. She
knows about it, though. She always has." Mamoru turned to face the petite
teacher as he spoke. He wanted to see how she would react to the news. Much
to his surprise, the teacher's eyes weld up with tears. She looked up at
Mamoru with sympathetic eyes.

"I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed sincerely. The corners of Mamoru's lips turned
up slightly.

"Tsukino-sensei! I have to go to the bathroom!" one of the children yelled.
Usagi excused herself from Mamoru and went to the child. Mamoru watched
the teacher carefully as she led the little boy to the back of the classroom
where the bathrooms were located. He decided that Yuki was in good hands with
this woman. Once she had returned, Usagi smiled again. Mamoru noticed that
she smiled a lot, which he supposed was good for the children.

"Yuki is really a beautiful child." Usagi commented, as her gaze swept over her class.

"Mmm..." Mamoru agreed.

"I'm sorry for your loss. You must have been close to her parents to raise her.."
Usagi said softly, watching him carefully. She noted the dark flash that passed
through his eyes.

"Yeah. Her father was my bestfriend. My only friend for a long time." Mamoru told her.

"That's terrible." Usagi said. "You've done a wonderful job raising her though."

"Thank you." Mamoru glanced at his watch. "I should probably get going."

"If you tiptoe out quietly enough, Yuki might not notice." Usagi teased him. He
looked up at her in surprise, only to see blue eyes laughing at him.

"She is watching you pretty closely." Usagi told him.

"What are you talking about? She's completely immersed in her picture." Mamoru replied.

"You really don't know women very well, do you?" Usagi asked. Her eyes were
alight with mischief. Mamoru laughed.

"What do you do for a living?" Usagi asked curiously. "Oh! How nosy of me..."

"I'm a doctor." Mamoru replied. "And you are a teacher, right?"

"Yes! I work at Cross Roads Elementary School. How did you know that?" Usagi
asked. "I do volunteer work at the hospital. My friend is a doctor there.
Maybe you know her. Dr. Mizuno Ami."

"Yes. I believe we have met. She recently began working there, did she not?"
Mamoru asked.

"Yes. We both graduated recently. Ami-chan was terrified of actually starting
her work, so she made me volunteer so I would be near if she needed me." Usagi
laughed at the memory.

"She's an excellent doctor though." Mamoru commented.

"I know. I always knew she would be."

Little did either of them know, Yuki had been watching them closer that Usagi
thought. Yuki had noted that her Mamo-chan was happier talking to this new
teacher than he had been in ages. Yuki began to form a little plot revolving
around her new teacher and her dearest friend.

~~

That night when the parents came to pick up their children, praise for the
new teacher could be heard ringing throughout the hallways. Yuki stood
clutching the teacher's skirt as she waited for Mamoru. As everyone else
left, Yuki clung tighter and tighter.

"Tsukino-sensei, where's Mamo-chan?" Yuki asked.

"I'm not sure, Yuki-chan. He's probably working late." Usagi replied,
trying to calm her favourite student.

"Did he.. Did he forget about me?" Yuki asked fearfully.

"Of course not!" Usagi exclaimed. "Would you like to help me clean up to
pass time?" Yuki nodded and Usagi led the child around the classroom,
chattering cheerfully the entire time to help keep Yuki's mind off the time.

"What do you like to do in your spare time, Yuki-chan?" Usagi asked.

"Ooh! I love to play in the park, and eat ice cream and ice skate!" Yuki
exclaimed. Usagi smiled down at the little girl as she jumped up excitedly,
and flung her arms out. Her arm hit the can of paintbrushes and a paint
bottle. Both fell. The floor was covered in pink paint and paintbrushes.
Yuki began to cry immediately.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to.." Yuki was sobbing. Usagi immediately
took the small child into her arms and hugged her tightly.

"It's okay, Yuki-chan. I'm not mad. It was> only an accident." Usagi told
the girl. Yuki lifted her head off Usagi's shoulder and looked at her
suspiciously.

"You aren't mad?" Usagi shook her head no. "For real?"

"Of course not! Why would I be mad?" Usagi asked, smiling.

"Mamo-chan's old girlfriend always got mad. I wasn't allowed to make
any noise, or any mess or anything! She always yelled at me and threatened
to have Mamo-chan kick me out." Yuki said sullenly. Usagi's eyes looked sad
as she spoke to the child.

"But who did Chiba-san kick out? Not you..." Usagi pointed out.

"Nope! He loves me best!" Yuki said, giggling. Usagi laughed and set Yuki
back down.

"Now, I'd better clean up this mess." Usagi said. She knelt down and began
picking up the paintbrushes. Yuki bent down and started to help.

"Oh no Yuki-chan!" Usagi exclaimed. "You don't have to clean this up. I
wouldn't want you to ruin your beautiful dress!"

Yuki looked at her teacher in surprise.

"But you are wearing a pretty dress too." Yuki pointed at Usagi's blue
dress with the paint-covered paintbrush she still had in her hand. A glob of
paint went flying off and hit Usagi's dress. Yuki's eyes went wide in horror.
Usagi couldn't help it. She burst out laughing.

"Oh Yuki-chan! You are positively adorable!" Usagi exclaimed.

"You aren't mad at me for ruining your nice dress?" Yuki asked.

"It's not ruined, dear. The paint will wash out." Usagi told her taking
the paintbrush from her hand. "Why don't you go read a book in the story
corner while I finish cleaning this up?"

Yuki nodded happily and skipped towards the quiet corner. Usagi made quick
work of gathering up the paintbrushes and depositing them in the sink.
Armed with a handful of paper towels, she tackled the pink splotch on her
floor. Once she had finished, she glanced at her watch. It was nearly five
o'clock. Usagi began to wonder where exactly Mamoru was.

Sighing, she stood up and went to her closet, where she kept an extra set of
clothes. She looked at the short white skirt and sleeveless blue top she held,
and wondered if it was acceptable. She kept the clothes in case of an unscheduled
get together with the girls. Usagi shrugged and turned to Yuki.

"Yuki-chan, I'm going to go get changed. Would you like to come with me?"
Usagi asked. Yuki jumped off the cushion and nodded her head. "Okay, let's go!"
Usagi offered her hand to the little girl, who eagerly clamped on. Together,
they made their way towards the bathroom. Usagi quickly changed into the
skirt and shirt.

"Wow! Tsukino-sensei, you look beautiful!" Yuki exclaimed as she looked at
her teacher.

"Thank you, Yuki-chan. We'd better get back to the classroom. Chiba-san
might be waiting for us, and wondering where you are." Usagi said, as she
glanced at her watch again. It was quarter after five. Quietly, the two walked
back to the kindergarten classroom. Usagi glanced around, only to find it empty.
She went to the closet at the> back and opened it again. She took out a plastic
bag and dropped her dress into it, before setting the bag on a hook with her
jacket. Just then, Yuki's stomach growled. Usagi looked over at Yuki in surprise,
to find the little girl blushing.

"Mamo-chan usually gives me a snack after school" Yuki told Usagi. Usagi smiled.

"I usually have a snack after school too. We can go get some ice cream, if
you'd like." Usagi suggested.

"Really? Yay!" Yuki quickly got her jacket and backpack from the hook next
to closet where Usagi stood. Usagi took her miniature backpack out of the
closet, and put it on>

"Let's go!" Usagi said, taking Yuki's hand in her own. As the left the
classroom again, Yuki stopped.

"What if Mamo-chan comes and finds me gone?" Yuki asked. Usagi thought
for a minute.

"I'll leave him a note on the table." Usagi said, before going back to her desk
and pulling out her bunny stationary. Writing a quick note in graceful handwriting,
Usagi explained that she and Yuki would be at the Crown Fruit Center, having
some ice cream. Signing the note Usagi, she left it on the first table where
Mamoru would be sure to see it if he came looking for his charge.

~~

Mamoru came running down the hall towards Yuki's classroom. He was very
late, and he knew it. As he approached Yuki's classroom, he noticed that
the school was absolutely silent. He quickly ran into the classroom, only
to find it empty. Mamoru was about to freak out and call the police when
he noticed a note lying on> the table. He picked it up and smiled at the
bunny paper. He read the note and sighed. Yuki was safe. Mamoru decided
he should go get Yuki and thank Usagi for taking care of her for him. He
knew he owed the new teacher an explanation.

As Mamoru walked into the Crown Fruit Center, his eyes scanned the place
for the blonde lady in the blue dress. He had remembered what Usagi was
wearing in the morning. Mamoru smiled as his eyes fell on a teenager in
a short white skirt with a blue top. She was laughing at a little blonde
child, and both were eating huge ice cream sundaes. Mamoru noticed that
the blonde child looked a lot like Yuki.
Suddenly he realized that the blonde child was Yuki, and the teenager was
her teacher. Quietly Mamoru made his way towards the table and sat down
next to Yuki. He slipped his arm around her shoulders and spoke to her.

"Hey beautiful!" Yuki looked up at him happily.

"Mamo-chan!" She threw her tiny arms around his neck and hugged fiercely.

"I see you managed you manipulate another person into buying you a sundae.
And I thought I was the only one you did that too!" Mamoru laughed and Yuki
released her grip.

"Nuh-uh! Tsukino-sensei offered to buy me ice cream." Yuki told him matter
of factly. Usagi laughed.

"I'm terribly sorry I was so late." Mamoru said, facing Usagi. "There was a
minor crisis at the hospital and I couldn't get away until now. They still
need me there, but I had to get Yuki."

"They always need you at the hospital Mamo-chan!" Yuki complained.

"I know, darling. I managed to get Saturday off so I could come watch you
skate though." Mamoru told her. Yuki's face lit up.

"Really?"

"Yes, really." Mamoru laughed and Yuki hugged him again, before turning
back to her ice cream.

"Tsukino-sensei, would you like to come watch me skate?" Yuki asked.

"Yuki-chan, I'm sure Tsukino-san has other things to do. I feel bad enough
that I wasted all her time this evening, already." Mamoru chided her.

"It wasn't a waste at all! I love spending time with Yuki. And I would love
to come watch you skate." Usagi said. Mamoru looked at her in surprise. He
noticed that Yuki was looking at her teacher with pure adoration. Usagi was
smiling at Yuki much in the same way. After the way his last girlfriend had
treated Yuki, it was nice to see someone being kind to the girl.

"Are you sure?" Mamoru asked.

"Yes, of course I'm sure!" Usagi exclaimed. "Is it the rink of Cherry Hill?"

"Yup." Yuki nodded, with her face covered in ice cream. Usagi laughed and
reached over with a napkin to wipe some off.

"You look positively adorable with that ice cream all over your face." Usagi
told her. Mamoru smiled again.

"Well, Yuki-chan. We should get going now, don't you think?" Mamoru asked.
"I guess so." Yuki replied.

"Can I offer you a ride somewhere?" Mamoru asked Usagi.

"No thanks. It's not a far walk. If what happens tonight repeats, you can
expect to find Yuki and I here though." Usagi said smiling.

"Thanks again." Mamoru said as he stood up. Carefully he reached into the
booth and picked Yuki up. Usagi stood and smoothed her short skirt.

"Hey Mamoru-san!" A voice called from across the Game Center. Mamoru looked
over to see Unazuki.

"Hey Unazuki-chan." Mamoru smiled. A groggy Yuki smiled at her aunt.

"I didn't know you were seeing someone new." Unazuki said, before turning
to offer her hand to Usagi. "I'm Furuhata Unazuki."

"I'm Tsukino Usagi, and I'm only Yuki's teacher." Usagi said, shaking the
girl's hand.

"Oh, I see." Unazuki replied.

"Yuki-chan is a wonderful student though." Usagi said smiling at Mamoru and
Yuki. "I should get going though. I'll see you tomorrow Yuki-chan!" Usagi waved
and walked out of the Game Center. Mamoru watched her as Yuki waved goodbye.

"Does she know about you and Yuki?" Unazuki asked quietly as her niece began to
 drift asleep on Mamoru's shoulder.

"Yes." Mamoru replied as he continued to watch the retreating figure.

"Don't let this one get away..." Unazuki said> softly before walking away.

~~

Usagi scanned the benches by the rink looking for the familiar man. She
had already found Yuki on the ice, but wanted to sit with someone she
knew. As her eyes fell on his dark hair, Usagi carefully made her way
down the wooden benches towards him.

"Hello Chiba-san." Usagi said as she jumped from the last bench onto the
cement. She noticed that most of the women there were giving her dirty
looks. She wondered why, and glanced down at herself. She thought that
maybe her outfit wasn't appropriate, but what was wrong with a pale
pink skirt and yellow top?

"Tsukino-san!" Mamoru exclaimed. "Yuki-chan was afraid you wouldn't make it."

"That's silly. I told her I'd be here." Usagi said as she turned to
face the ice. She waved at Yuki who was skating past. Yuki's face lit
up as she saw her teacher.

"My name is Usagi, not Tsukino-san." Usagi told Mamoru as they sat down
on the cold bench. Mamoru laughed.

"Okay, then I'm Mamoru." Usagi nodded and her eyes sparkled happily.

"Yuki's really very good. Does she skate often?" Usagi asked.

"Yes. Yuki takes lessons once a week. Do you skate?" Mamoru asked.

"I used to, but I'm probably not very good anymore." Usagi replied. Another
mother came and sat next to Usagi and Mamoru.

"Hello! I haven't seen you here before. Which one is yours?" The lady asked Usagi.

"The one in the pink and white jacket." Usagi said, pointing to Yuki. Mamoru
noticed that Usagi made no attempt at clarifying that she was only here because
Yuki had asked.

"Oh! Furuhata Yuki, isn't that? My daughter is good friends with her. Would you
mind if Yuki came over today after the lesson? I'm Nakane Akane." Akane offered
her hand to Usagi.

"I'm Tsukino Usagi." Usagi smiled brightly and shook her hand.

"It's nice to finally meet another young mother. All those old bats over there
always give me dirty looks. How come I've never seen you here before?" Akane asked.

"I'm Yuki's teacher." Usagi explained. "She asked me to come watch her.
Mamoru-san is actually her guardian." Usagi gestured at Mamoru who smiled
slightly. Although his eyes had been focused on Yuki, he had been listening
to the entire conversation.

"Guardian?" Akane asked.

"Yes. I'm Chiba Mamoru." Mamoru offered his hand.

"Don't you work at the hospital?" Akane asked.

"I'm a doctor there." Mamoru replied before turning his attention back to the ice.

"Well, I think it's very nice of you to have come to watch her." Akane told Usagi.

"I love Yuki. She's the most amazing child I've ever met." Usagi spoke sincerely.
"Actually, she's a lot like I was as a child, only a lot smarter!"

"She looks a lot like you too." Akane commented. "Same hair, same eyes."

"Mm…" Usagi said as her gaze fell on Yuki once more.

"I'm going to get some coffee. Can I interest either of you in any?" Mamoru
asked as he looked at Usagi.

"No thanks." Akane smiled.

"Do they have hot chocolate?" Usagi asked.

"I'm not sure..." Mamoru replied as he stood up.

"I'll come with you and check." Usagi decided as she got to her feet. "We'll
be right back."

"Okay." Akane said as Mamoru helped Usagi up the benches.

"Do you skate with Yuki a lot?" Usagi asked.

"Yeah. It's something she really enjoys. Would you like to come skating with us sometime?"

"Sure. I'd love to." Usagi said as Mamoru turned to the lady.

"I'd like a medium coffee and hot chocolate, please."

"Alright, that will be $2.35 please." The lady said as she went to get the
coffee. A few minutes later, she handed Mamoru the two cups. He handed her
a five, and gave Usagi her hot chocolate.

"Thanks. Next week's on me." She said as she sipped her drink. "Ooh! It's so hot."

Mamoru smiled at Usagi as he accepted his change. He picked up his drink
and they headed back towards their seats. As Mamoru opened the door for
Usagi, someone called his name. Usagi turned to see a tall dark haired lady
making her way towards them. Mamoru groaned quietly before pasting on a very
fake smile.

"Hello." he said.

"Mamoru-kun, how is Yuki-chan?" the lady asked as she stepped close to Mamoru.

"You never cared before, why would you care now?" Mamoru asked. Suddenly Usagi
realized that this was the ex-girlfriend Yuki had spoken about. She glanced down
to see Yuki was stepping off the ice.

"Uhmm, Mamoru-san? Yuki-chan is coming off the ice now so I'll go down and get her,
okay?" Usagi said before slipping through the door and hopping down the benches.

"Yuki-chan!" Usagi called waving to the girl and smiling brightly.

"I see you wasted no time in replacing me." the girl said bitterly.

"I haven't replaced you." Mamoru replied. "I don't want you anywhere near Yuki
either."

"I cared about Yuki. I did, unlike that.." The woman gestured at Usagi.

"You never cared about Yuki and her needs. I don't care what you say, and if I
want Usagi in Yuki's life and my life, then she will be." Mamoru turned around
and walked away. He looked down and saw Yuki talking animatedly to Usagi while
Usagi helped her get her skates off.

As he neared, he heard the topic of conversation.

"Will you come Tsukino-sensei? Will you please!" Yuki pleaded. Mamoru knew
immediately that Yuki was referring to her birthday party.

"Well, I'm not sure Yuki-chan." Usagi replied as she handed her cup of hot
chocolate to Yuki. "You must be cold. Drink this."

"I'm glad you don't drink yucky old coffee like Mamo-chan." Yuki said. Usagi
made a face.

"That stuff is so bitter!" Yuki laughed at her teacher's expression.

"Yuki-chan, is that the teacher you were talking about?" A quiet little
brown haired girl asked.

"Yup! This is Tsukino-sensei." Yuki said proudly.

"You're right! She is pretty!" The girl exclaimed, looking at Usagi.
Usagi laughed.

"I'm Tuskino Usagi." Usagi turned slightly, as she held Yuki's skate
between her knees.

"I'm Nakane Hazumi." the child smiled at Usagi.

"You were wonderful today, Yuki-chan." Mamoru said as he sat down beside
Yuki.

"Mamo-chan!" Yuki cried throwing her arms around him. Her skate slipped
from where Usagi was unlacing it and the blade slashed Usagi's upper thigh
and left hand. Usagi cried out.

"Usagi-chan!" Mamoru said, quickly setting Yuki down and moving to his knees.
Usagi had fallen back against the boards and Mamoru knelt beside her. Carefully,
he applied pressure to her thigh while looking at her hand.

"Oh God Usagi-chan, I'm so sorry." He whispered as he inspected her hand. The
cut wasn't deep, but it was long. He reached into Yuki's skating bag and pulled
out a clean rag which he wrapped around her hand.

"Let me see your leg." Usagi lifted her hand away from her leg and the
blood poured down her leg. Already a pool had gathered on the ground.

"I'll look after Yuki. You get her to a hospital!" Akane said as a crowd
started to gather around them.

"Thanks." Mamoru said before scooping Usagi up in his arms and heading
towards the exit. "Keep pressure on your leg!"

"I... I feel so faint... Yuki-chan, don't..." Usagi whispered as she rested
her head against his chest.

"Don't you dare fall asleep! Usagi-chan! If you fall asleep..." Mamoru
threatened as he unlocked his car door. Setting her in the passenger seat,
Mamoru quickly did up her seatbelt and went around to the other side. He
drove to the hospital as quickly as the speed limits allowed. Mamoru parked
as near the emergency doors as he was legally allowed before scooping Usagi
up again and running into> the hospital.

"Chiba-san! What happened to her?" one of the> nurses asked as Mamoru came
into the emergency room and set her down.

"She was slashed with a skate blade. Her thigh and hand. She's lost a lot of
blood already." Mamoru said as he tossed his jacket into one of the chairs.

"I want Mizuno-san down here now!"

"Yes Chiba-san." the nurse said as Mamoru began wheeling Usagi away from
the doors.

"What is it Nurse?" Ami asked as she stepped into the ER. "Usagi! What
happened to her?"

"A skate blade." Mamoru replied. "What's her blood type."

"O negative." Ami replied. "Two pints. Now!"

"Better make that three." Mamoru said as Ami began checking for the vital
life signs.

"Usagi-chan?" Ami asked. "Her pulse is weak."

"Ami-chan? What are you doing here?" Usagi> asked.

"Working, Usagi-chan. Stay awake okay? I know how much it hurts, but you
have to stay with us." Ami said.

"Okay, Ami-chan.." Usagi whispered. "Where's Yuki-chan?" Usagi's voice was
filled with alarm. Mamoru was astonished that Usagi was concerned with Yuki
even before herself.

"Don't worry about her, Usagi-chan." Mamoru said soothingly. "She's with Akane."

"Oh.. Mamoru-san, you had better go get her. She'll be worried..." Usagi's
voice trailed off as she grew too weak to talk. She really had lost a lot of blood.
The cut along her thigh was deeper than her hand. Ami finally got it to stop
bleeding, and was beginning to clean the wound.

"Usagi-chan, this is going to hurt." Ami said as she used the alcohol. Usagi
clenched her eyes shut tightly as Ami continued to clean her thigh.

"Here, let me do that." Mamoru said as he put on latex gloves and took the
cotton swab from Ami. "You work on her hand. When you stitch it, make small
stitches so there is no scaring."

"I know." Ami said, smiling slightly. Mamoru took the needle and thread from the
attending nurse and glanced at Usagi's face.

"Usagi-chan, this is going to sting, but you'll be okay." He said softly. Usagi
nodded her head. Mamoru began to sew her leg with small, precise stitches. Ami
began the same on her hand. Usagi fainted from the pain.
