Usagi awoke to a large crash, and almost shot straight up. Her eyes fell on the
tv screen, and saw that it was just a cartoon. Yuki was sitting in front of the
tv, oblivious to the two adults behind her. Usagi stretched carefully, mindful
of Mamoru's arm around her.
"Usa-chan..." Mamoru murmured in his sleep, pulling her closer to him. Usagi
smiled, and snuggled against him. She was quite content to stay that way,
until a slight rumbling filled the room. Yuki turned around with a sheepish
look on her face, to see if she had woken either of the two behind her.
"Hungry, Yuki-chan?" Usagi asked softly.
"Yes... Sorry to wake you Tsukino-sensei." Yuki glanced at her teacher before
letting her gaze fall on the carpet.
"It's okay. I was already awake. Come on, let's go see what you've got in
your kitchen." Usagi carefully disentangled herself from Darien and got
up. "Which way is the kitchen?"
"This way!" Yuki led her teacher towards the large kitchen, near the back of
the house.
"What do you feel like, Yuki-chan?" Usagi asked as she peered into the kitchen.
"Uhmm..." Yuki perched on one of the chairs, watching her teacher. "I don't
know."
"Hmm..." Usagi opened the vegetable crisper and began to pull out some vegetables.
"What about a stirfry?"
"Okay!" Yuki exclaimed. Usagi found a knife and cutting board and began slicing
the vegetables. She and Yuki chattered as Usagi prepared the meal.
"So Yuki-chan, did you have fun today?" Usagi asked.
"Oh yes! It was so much fun! Thank you for coming, Tsukino-sensei."
"No problem, Yuki-chan. I had a lot of fun myself." Usagi began slicing the
onion.
"Tsukino-sensei? Why are you crying?" Yuki asked, puzzled and concered about her
teacher. Usagi laughed.
"Oh Yuki-chan! It's the onion! It's making me cry." Usagi replied, laughing
merrily at Yuki's confusion.
"Where's the wok?" Usagi asked, once she had finished slicing up the vegetables.
"Up there." Yuki pointed above the fridge. Usagi reached up and opened the
cupboard. She pulled down the black wok and set it on the counter between
herself and Yuki. Usagi plugged in the wok and began to fry the vegtables.
"That smells yummy!" Yuki's eyes were wide as she watched her teacher cook.
"It certain does." A deep voice said from the doorway. Usagi turned to see
Mamoru standing there, watching the two of them.
"Oh! Hi... Yuki-chan was hungry..." Usagi explained. Mamoru laughed.
"Yuki-chan's always hungry." He teased, as the phone rang. "I'll get that in
my study."
Mamoru turned and left the kitchen quickly. He picked up the phone in his study.
"Hello?"
"Mamoru-san?"
"Hi Unazuki-chan!" Mamoru greeted.
"How did the party go? Sorry I couldn't make it!" Unazuki told him.
"It's okay. Usagi came and helped out."
"Yuki's teacher?"
"Yeah."
"Wow, Mamoru-san. You two seem to get along great." Unazuki teased.
"Yeah... She seems to really care about Yuki. They're in the kitchen now."
"She's still there?" Unazuki asked in surprise.
"Yeah, we kinda fell asleep. I woke up when I heard her cooking in there."
"She was cooking in your kitchen?!"
Mamoru laughed.
"Yeah. It was nice waking up and finding her in there..." Mamoru mused. Unazuki
grinned.
"So when's the date?"
"Your worse than Motoki-san." Mamoru told her.
"Oh listen! I'm having a barbeque next weekend. Would the three of you like
to come? My new boyfriend is going to be there."
"Am I going to approve?" Mamoru asked, teasing her.
"Maybe... Well, will you come?"
"I'll ask Usagi." Mamoru promised.
"Great, I'll talk to you later. Bye!"
"Bye."
Mamoru hung the phone up and went back into the kitchen where Usagi was dishing
out vegetables.
"Here you go, Yuki-chan." Usagi set the plate down in front of Yuki and handed
her a fork.
"Who was on the phone?" Yuki asked.
"Unazuki. She's having a barbeque next weekend. Would you like to come,
Usagi-chan?" Mamoru asked.
"Oh, I couldn't impose." She told him, laughing.
"She asked specifically for you to be there." Mamoru told her.
"Oh please!" Yuki exclaimed.
"We'll see." Usagi told the little girl.
Once Yuki had eaten, Mamoru sent her up to bed. Yuki went with little protest,
once Usagi had promised to go up and tuck her in.
"Yuki's really a very sweet girl." Usagi commented as she and Mamoru sat in the
kitchen afterwards.
"Thanks. She really adores you." Mamoru told her. "Would you like some coffee?"
"Sure."
Mamoru got up and began making coffee for the two of them.
"Let me clean this up." Usagi stood up and began tidying up the mess she had
made in his kitchen.
"You don't have to do that." Mamoru told her.
"It's okay." Usagi replied with a smile.
"So, will you come next weekend?" Mamoru asked as Usagi set the dishes in the sink.
"I don't know... I seem to be monopolizing you and Yuki..."
"We don't mind." Mamoru grinned. Usagi still looked uncertain. Mamoru took her hand
and turned her to face him. "Please say you'll come?" He asked, imitating Yuki rather
well. Usagi burst out laughing.
"Alright! Alright! But I'm telling Yuki you did that!" Usagi threatened. Mamoru
spun her against the counter and put one hand on either side of her, trapping her.
"I can't allow such a thing." He told her, in his most menacing voice. Usagi just
laughed at him.
"You can't keep me here." She told him matter of factly.
"Oh?" Mamoru asked, raising an eyebrow. Usagi shook her head. Mamoru was standing
rather close to her, and Usagi realized she was still dressed in nothing but her
bikini.
"Watch me." Mamoru told her, before leaning his head closer to hers. Before their
lips could meet, the telephone rang. Mamoru groaned softly and stepped away from
Usagi to answer the phone.
"Hello? What?" He asked. "I said no.. Dammit! Yes, yes. Five minutes."
Mamoru slammed the phone back down and glanced at Usagi.
"I'm sorry. There's been an emergency... I have to go." He told her.
"What about Yuki?" Usagi asked.
"Shit."
"I'll watch her. Just go." Usagi told him with a smile.
"Thanks."
Usagi watched Mamoru race out of the kitchen and she heard the door shut quietly.
She went to the front door and looked it, watching Mamoru drive away from the window,
before she turned and went back into the kitchen.
After cleaning everything up, Usagi went upstairs to check on Yuki. She smiled at
the sleeping girl. Yuki looked even more angelic asleep. Content that the child
wasn't going to wake up, Usagi went back downstairs into the family room. She sat
on the end of the couch with her knees drawn up under her chin. She pulled a
blanket around herself and slowly drifted off to sleep.
~~
When Usagi awoke, she found herself in a nice warm bed. She snuggled deeper into
it before she caught a whiff of cologne. Her eyes flew open as she realized she
wasn't in her own home.
Usagi sat up and glanced around. The room was a dark blue colour, with a deep
mahogany wood every where. The bed was wood, the desk, the dresser. It was a
really nice decor that just seemed to scream Mamoru.
There was a gentle knock on the door and Mamoru popped his head in.
"Your awake." He said, stepping further into the room.
"Yeah... When did I get moved here?" She asked, her voice touched with
sleep.
"When I got in last night." Mamoru told her. "You were sleeping on the couch,
but I thought you would be more comfortable here."
"Oh... Thanks." Usagi smiled at him.
"I came up to see if you wanted beakfast. Yuki helped me make some pancakes."
"Sure!" Usagi exclaimed. She slipped her slender legs out from under the silky
sheets, and Mamoru's gaze travelled along them. Usagi blushed slightly.
"Uhm? Do you think I could borrow something to wear?" She asked him. This time
Mamoru blushed.
"Yeah... You can take whatever from my closet." He told her before leaving the
room quickly.
Usagi went to his closet and pulled a white dress shirt from one of the coat
hangers and slipped it on. She buttoned it up as she went into the kitchen.
"Morning Tsukino-sensei!" Yuki greeted, happily eating a stack of pancakes.
"Morning."
Usagi slid into a chair next to Yuki, and Mamoru set a plate with pancakes down
in front of her.
"Thanks."
Usagi began eating hungrily. Mamoru sat down across from her and watched her
over the rim of his coffee cup.
"Are you stayin' all day, Tsukino-sensei?" Yuki asked. "We're going shopping.
Wanna come?"
"Sure, Yuki-chan, if Mamoru-san wants me to come."
"Mamo-chan always wants you to come." Yuki told her. Mamoru began choking on
his coffee while Usagi just laughed.
~~
"Oh! I like that one, Yuki-chan." Usagi pointed to a pale pink dress.
"Yeah! It's pretty!" Yuki exclaimed.
Mamoru stood watching the two go through the dresses, deciding which ones they
should try on.
"I still think this blue is nice." Usagi pulled another dress off the rack.
"What do you think, Mamoru-san?"
"I like it."
"Okay." Yuki-chan smiled.
By the time they were finished, it was well into the afternoon. Mamoru had
purchased a number of dresses for Yuki, as well as a pair of shoes. Usagi
was surprised at how easily he spent money on her, but decided that since
it wasn't spoiling Yuki-chan, it wasn't a bad thing.
"Do you two want to go get some lunch?" Mamoru asked as they left the department
store.
"Sure." Usagi replied.
"I'm tired..." Yuki whined. Usagi laughed and scooped Yuki up.
"Better?"
"Uh-huh." Yuki rested her head on Usagi's shoulder. Mamoru smiled at the
sight the two of them made. He took the bag Usagi had been carrying from
her.
"Thanks."
"Where do you want to go eat?" Mamoru asked her.
"Doesn't matter. Somewhere Yuki likes." Usagi told him. Mamoru nodded and
led them to a fast food joint.
"I'll sit over there." Usagi gestured to one of the tables best she could
with a lightly dozing Yuki in her arms.
"Alright. What do you want?" Mamoru asked her.
"Surprise me." Usagi flashed him a smile before heading to a small table.
She set Yuki down carefully and waited for Mamoru to come over with their
late lunch.
~~
"Thanks again for all your help, Usagi-chan." Mamoru was carrying Yuki and
Usagi was following behind him with his purchases. Mamoru carefully held out
his key and tried to get it into the lock with out distrubing the exhausted
blonde in his arms.
"Here, let me." Usagi reached over and took the keys from his hand. She
quickly unlocked the front door and swung it open. Mamoru carried Yuki
inside and went up the stairs to put her in her room. She had barely
been able to stay awake long enough to eat her hamburger and fries.
Usagi shut the door and waited for Mamoru to come back down. She set
the bags down next to the small table against the wall in the foyer.
"She's still sleeping soundly." Mamoru told her as he came down the stairs.
"I should get going." Usagi glanced at her watch. "It's kinda late."
"Do you need a ride?" He asked, and Usagi laughed.
"No, my car's in the driveway." Usagi picked up the small bag she had
brought the previous day. "I'll see you tomorrow, when you drop Yuki off."
"Bye, Usagi-chan."
"Bye Mamoru-san." Usagi smiled once more before leaving his home.
