"No. No! It can't be. There's no way." Usagi shook her head defiantly.
"Usagi." Mamoru stood up and took a step towards her.
"No!" Usagi backed away from him. "Stay away from me! Your lying!"
Her voice rose with hysteria.
"I'm not your Princess. I'm no one! I not destined, I don't have the
ginzuishou and I don't have a soulmate! I'm not the one! Do you understand
me? Do you?!"
"Usagi please!" Mamoru pleaded, tears in his eyes.
"I'm not the princess..." Tears were streaming down Usagi's face. "I'm not."
Mamoru clenched his eyes shut, willing the tears away, trying to regain
control of his emotions. Michiru stood up and moved towards Usagi, holding
her mirror.
"Look into the mirror Usagi-chan. It is the mirror of truth."
Usagi took the mirror and bravely looked in. The image that looked back was
a girl who looked remarkably like her. The girl had sky blue eyes, and hair
the colour of sunshine, which was done up in Odango. The biggest difference
was the crescent moon that shone on her face. Usagi shook her head.
"It's you, Usagi-chan. There's no denying it. The mirror can't lie."
Michiru told her, before gently taking the mirror away. Slowly Haruka and
Michiru left their Prince and Princess to work things out.
"Usagi..." Mamoru whispered. Usagi looked up at him, fresh tears in her
eyes. "Why are you so upset?"
"I... I can't be... She wouldn't lie to us... Why would Minako lie?" Usagi
asked.
"Maybe she thought she was protecting you. Maybe she didn't know." Mamoru
replied, stepping towards Usagi.
"Mamoru, why would she do this to me?" Usagi asked, collapsing in his arms.
"I don't know, Usagi. I don't know." Mamoru held the sobbing girl tightly.
He stroked her hair, trying to calm her, to stop her tears. "Oh, I love you
Usagi. I love you so much."
His voice was barely above a whisper as he spoke the words to her. He could
feel the petite girl shaking in his arms.
"No you don't." She whispered. "You love who I was, not who I am."
"That's not true, Usako." He told her as she pulled away. "I love _you_ not
some fairy tale princess. I love the way you take everyone you meet into
your heart. I love the way you give freely of yourself, and love like
nothing can hurt you. I love the way you bring laughter and light everywhere
you go, and constantly put smiles on other peoples faces. I've loved you,
since the day I first saw you on the streets of Tokyo."
Mamoru finished his passionate speech, his eyes never leaving Usagi's. He
saw as she heard, processed and accepted what he said. He saw the way her
eyes changed, the way the tears dried.
"I love you for who you are, Usako."
Usagi threw herself into his arms. Mamoru crushed her against him, holding
her as tightly as he could. Usagi buried her face in his chest, hugging him
tightly.
"Oh Usako, my Usako." Mamoru murmured against her hair.
"Mamo-chan?" She asked carefully. "You aren't going to make me abandon, the
others, are you?"
"I won't make you do anything you don't want to do." Mamoru promised her.
"Can I tell them who you are? Who I am?" She asked.
"If you want to." Mamoru looked down into her earnest eyes and smiled. "If
it will make you happy."
She nodded eagerly. Mamoru's smiled widened.
"Can I call them now?"
He laughed and slowly released her from his arms.
"Yes, Usako. Call them now."
Usagi raced to the phone and picked it up. She dialed a number quickly, and
waited.
"Rei-chan? It's me. Uh-huh. We need to have a senshi meeting. It's really
important. Yes. Uh-huh. Okay. Bye!" Usagi hung up the phone and turned
to Mamoru. "We're going to have a meeting at the Shrine in an hour."
"I can think of a few ways to fill up the hour." Mamoru raised his eyebrow
suggestivly. Usagi burst out laughing.
"So can I! I need to get clothes! I can't go out like this. And I need to
make sure my parents aren't worried. Also..." Usagi was interrupted as
Mamoru placed his lips firmly on hers. Usagi melted against him, wrapping
her arms around his neck. Her fingers began to play with the ends of his
silky hair as they continued to kiss. Finally, Mamoru pulled away.
"You were saying?" He asked.
"Oh? Was I?" Usagi replied before kissing him again.
