From
the ashes of Radio Mutiny, and the barricades of the confrontation
at the Republican Convention, a specter haunts West Philadelphia.
Emerging from the shadows on Election Day... Radio Volta is a
community, listener-supported, volunteer-driven station bringing you
breaking independent news, alternative culture and freeform music.
Radio Volta germinated as WR2K,
broadcasting action from the streets of Philly during the 2000 GOP
convention. It found a home in the former studio of Radio Mutiny, the
history-making free radio station. WPEB (FM 88.1) will soon carry our programming.
Radio Volta is named after
Voltairine de Cleyre, Philadelphia's most prominent anarchist and
champion of civil rights, labor, and an opponent of the
"bestial" institution of marriage.
