The
government of Hanover has evolved over the history of
the kingdom, adapting to suit the needs of the time. The
institutions of Parliament and the monarchy, however,
have been a constant presence.
The
Hanoverian system of government is based on the executive
and legislative power of the Prime Minister and
Parliament, from which he is chosen. The monarch retains
a large degree of influence over national policy and
direction, and acts as a unifying and guiding force in
Hanoverian politics.
The
Constitution of Bergen was adopted on the 18th of
October 2004, after being accepted in a national
referendum and a Parliamentary vote. The new
constitution created a House of Lords, and unified all
the members of the Commonwealth.
