Today was my day in the Nintendo booth. Since it was the most crowded area I put aside an entire day to just Nintendo. Thankfully it didn't take me the entire day so I could get in a the rest of the West Hall. My impression of all that Nintendo had to offer stayed very high after playing the various games on the GameBoy Advanced and GameCube. I will focus on the AGB games in this section.

Oh yea, Nintendo had this game going on throughout the entire expo. You got a card and a Nintendo stamp at the main desk. In the AGB area you got another stamp, and in the GCN area a third stamp. Once you had all three you stood in a LONG line to get a chance to win a AGB. 14 people sit at a wheel that will spin. The Booth Babe in the center would spin the wheel, after about 5 minutes of conversation, and whatever ended up in front of you was what you win. Each spot had an AGB carry case and a either a foam rubber AGB or GCN. In one of the spots one of the prizes was replaced by a boxed retail US AGB. Since the line was so damn long I held off until Saturday to try the wheel.

How about the games?
Title Thoughts
Wario Land 4 Have you played Wario Land for the GameBoy Color? Well then you've played it for the AGB. Seriously, I thought I was playing the older one with more colors. For a system that should be able to do SNES level games, and based on others I know it can, this was a major letdown. But as far as gameplay goes, if you enjoy the Wario Land series you will like this updated version.
Advanced GT You've read the bad reviews of the import version by now. Well they are right on the money. This is not even an average level game. The graphics are poor and the gameplay is even worse. This was one of the most boring games I played at E3.
Metroid This one wasn't playable, it was just shown on video monitors in a montage of AGB games. And from what I saw MEtroid fans will be very happy. It is a return to the SNES days with all the wonderful 2D levels, colorful effects, special moves and cool weapons. This is what the AGB is all about. :)
Banjo-Kazoie Once again another video only game in the montage of games. This one looks to be a 3/4 view 2d/3d version of BK. Not much was shown but what was shown looked good. I would have to say this is what it would have been had they made it in the SNES days. Hope to see more of it as it gets closer to release.
