The field for the individual event The A group final (l to r) Dave Wright, Mike Crofts, John Wells, Steve Sweetman, Brian Galpin, and Neil Tozer
The YTK 2003 season started at Tomacher raceway on 23 March.  It certainly was a friendly, enjoyable  meeting - thanks to Neil and Steve for making us all so welcome.  The sunny spring day, burger bar outside with tables on the grass only added to an enjoyable meeting. Thanks to Nigel Barrow for the photos.

There was a good entry, aminly from Pinewood and Tomacher, it was also good to see a few old friends from Raceway UK/Wildfields and Millstream.   In the individuals, Steve Tozer set an impressive total in the B final with Carl Dale and Jamie Galpin not far behind.. The individual racing culminated in a close run A final with very rapid runs from Neil Tozer and Brian Galpin. Brian looked particularly quick in the early running, but Neil eventually pulled out a significant margin at the end, with Brian just displacing Steve's B final time to third overall.  Steve Sweetman was the best of the visitors in sixth.  Certainly a good result for the home members - I imagine we can look forward to some impressive results for the Pinewood members at round 2!  Here's the full result - the scores are the total of 6 x 3 min runs.

TEAM RACE

The cars for the team event.  The chassis had mostly run in the individual events, but the team event has different body rules - featuring less downforce. Saleen and Ferrari 550 bodies were most popular, although a couple of Morgans and a Lotus Elise are in there too.

In fact the difference in performance was noticeable, particularly in the inside of the big bend where part throttle was needed in places that were flat with the individual cars.

There were plenty more rapid times in the team race.  The eventual winners were the Dolly Machers - Brian and Jamie Galpin looked very quick all the way through, although the Tozer brothers were quicker at times, our hosts had to settle for second. Next up was Carl and young Luke Dale - while the first visitors (and the first unrelated) team home were the Old Gits (they chose the team name) John Wells and Steve Sweetman from yet another father and son pairing - Dave and Andy Wright from Millstream. Here's the full result - the scores are the total of 6 x 9 min runs, the drivers taking 3 lanes each.
