ON-LIVE Project (1998- 1999).

The general objectives of the ON LIVE project are that groups of teachers in different schools contact with an innovative telematic service which permits that the students would learn thanks to a personalized "educator" in the form of an 3D character close to the learning thematic desired. This 3D character could recognize any student, talk with him and give response to the students asks.
The development objectives of the ON LIVE project are to define, to design, to develop and to integrate the research tools regarding the 3D Motion Capture & Rendering Virtual Teacher Interfaces and the On line 3D Simulation and Control Interfaces.
The pedagogical objectives are the Development of methods to acquaint teachers with the ON LIVE network and the design and production of an interactive multimedia title (under DVD) and a on line 3D virtual representation of the teacher.
The demonstration objectives thanks two pilot experiences under 4 schools are such as follows.
To give training to the teachers thanks to the development of methods to acquaint with that new educational procedure.
In the first experience to be developed during month 12, the 4 classrooms will receive an off line course by a 3D fish or dolphin representation. This will serve as a basic to test the validity of the methods oriented to the teachers and like first results and reactions from the students (users requirements analysis).
In the second experience to be developed during month 21, the 4 classrooms will dispose of an DVD title regarding the resources and forms of life of the sea and will receive on line courses by a 3D fish or dolphin representation.
To evaluate this pilot experience thanks to the delivering of evaluation reports.
To dispose of a set of evaluation tools oriented to manage this kind of new innovative educational approach and to permit its universal use from the educational community.
The commercial objectives are that the Spanish telecom company (TELEFONICA) adds this innovative educational system and pedagogical service to his added-value services division and try to commercialise it. This could represent the best dissemination of the results under the educational actors.
