The Corsair was orignally designed by Gemini to replace the Leo Mobile Suits as it's front line of defense. The design was never put into full scale production, however, as Gemini soon fell after the first 16 units were completed. These units, however, would serve as the basis of the Twilight Privateer mobile suit force.

The remaining suits were hijacked by a small squad of former Martian Colonials not happy with the United Solar Fleet leading the post war system. After stealing the units from the Earth Colony U29345, the Twilight Ptivateers began production, and sold the designs to independant contractors. The design eventually circulated throughout the system, where it was mostly used by pirates and small outpost millitias. The design proved very veristile, and was used up until the Exodus of Humanity during the Heaven's Sword War.
