Check some of the boat/yachting mags for makers of desalinators and purifiers. They range in size from small and reasonably priced to big enough to make water for the Trump Princess and priced accordingly. Clorine has been linked to bladder cancer and kidney related problems when used in large amounts as a water purifier - like in big city water supplies. Iodine has no such reported problems and also has the advantage of some degree of radiation blocking. The latest batch of USGI surplus Iodine is in 10% solution one ounce bottles and should store for 10 - 15 years if kept below 90 degrees. If it crystalizes out it can be reconstuted with I believe alcohol. The stuff hasn't been a real big seller for us because halizone tastes better - but I know we have about a half case of the stuff in Tucson and about that much here in the Aiken store. There's a _lot_ of it on the market and it is fairly cheap by the case. If somebody is really having a hard time finding the stuff let me know and I can COD a case out for you. A barrel of charcoal would be useful for turning potatoski into vodka or filtering crud out of the water supply. For hurricane backups around here we use 15 gallon black plastic jugs. But then water is not usually a problem in South Carolina - other then the occasional batch of too much. Set the jug in the sun for warm water with no fire, or in the shade for cool water. Two men can carry 15 gallons on a pole without too much effort. Machine gunner's shoulder pads make this easier. Ten settle the suspension in the bus 'just right' but can be moved out individually if the roads are impassible. --- Opus-CBCS 1.10b * Origin: Schrodinger's Catbox(803)652-3760 PRNetSC SURVNet (1:3624/7.0)
