Shania Ain't No Quitter

Oh, the irony of it all. My very favorite Shania Twain song, and possibly
one of my favorite country songs ever, is "I Ain't No Quitter." So now, with
the news of this alleged affair between Twain's husband and their glorified
secretary, I feel blindsided, frankly.
I mean, Twain says right there in the song (that she wrote with said husband Mutt Lange), "I ain't givin' up on him just yet. Cause I'm as stubborn as a girl can get." She goes on to admit that "he flirts too much, and he loves blond chicks" and "his body rocks, and the girls they flock." Was that all just some kind of cruel hoax, like a foreshadowing they set to music?
The song is full of some very traditional country instrumentation, and the video has Twain getting her cowgirl on. And those cowboy line dancers? Hot. I could watch the video a hundred times and never tire of it. It's the one song that made me feel really connected to Twain. And I could relate to being in that position: You've fallen for a bad boy. He drinks, smokes, chews and flirts, and yet for some reason you stand by him.
I realize lyrics are not meant to be taken literally. Especially country ones. I know it's not as easy as "I tell him to change his ways, but he just turns to me and says, I ain't no quitter.'" If that were true, we'd all be married to bastards. But if there's any truth to the words of that song, I hope Twain and Lange will go back and listen to it one more time.
Learn a thing or two about flaws and forgiveness. Maybe revisiting their own music would show them that marriage is no place for quitters.
