She is firm and headstrong. She obeys other people without question yet she has a mind of her own.  She refuses to go against her wishes whenever there is a loved one involved.

In combat, Tomoe has a little to no knowledge in battle. Since in their time women were only trained in the house, Tomoe has not been taught any combat skills. Her  only weapon is a small kodachi which she keeps inside her obi.

BACK OFF if you don't want the following parts to spoil you

Spoiler Alert: If you haven't seen the OAV or read the manga, I suggest you skip this part. Thank you

Yukishiro Tomoe was engaged to her childhood friend named Kiyosato Akira. Unable to express her love for him, he goes to Kyoto to prove that he is worthy enough to become her husband. While in Kyoto, he gets killed by Hitokiri Battousai and causes Kenshin's big scar that would not stop bleeding. When Tomoe received the news of his death, she wanted to get revenge and worked for a group who was planning to destroy Battousai and Choshu Ishinshishi. Her mission was to get close to Battousai and discover his weakness.

Tomoe found Kenshin while assassinating an enemy in the rain. She faints and Kenshin takes her in an inn with him. Kenshin's wound finally stops bleeding at the presence of Tomoe. After a few mishaps with the Ishinshishi, Kenshin and Tomoe were to run in the mountains and pretend to be husband and wife. In the mountains, both Kenshin and Tomoe lived a peaceful and quiet life. They had a business so that people wouldn't get suspicious.

After five months of being married to Kenshin, Tomoe learned that the person who protected her happiness was the person who killed her happiness. She grew to love Kenshin so she went back to The Yaminobu and told them that Battousai had no weakness. The Yaminobu knew more and decided that she had became his weakness. The group captured her and used her as bait to lure Battousai and then kill him.

Battousai upon learning that Tomoe was gone and was a spy came looking for her in the mountains. His scar was now heavily bleeding and now he was wounded from fighting the members of The Yaminobu. Upon arriving in the group's hideout, he came face to face with their leader and they fought. Tomoe saw that Kenshin, fatally wounded from fighting other enemies from below the mountain, was no match for his enemy so she decided to intervene. Holding a knife, she tried to protect her loved one and Kenshin slashed her along with the enemy, killing them both. In the manga, Her kodachi  flew and caused another scar on Kenshin's cheek completing the X. In the OAV, Kenshin ran his cheek down on Tomoe's raised kodachi. Tomoe died protecting her happiness.
