GEN: Colonel John Whitcomb's regiment. He possibly enlisted from
GEN: Ashburnham, as he and three brothers; Abijah, Peter, and Samuel went
GEN: there before the Revolution. James was stationed on Prospect Hill,
GEN: Cambridge, where he served 12 days. After James first marriage he and
GEN: Mary lived in Ashburnham for a time, united with the church 14 Oct.
GEN: 1770, and where taxed there in 1771. After a year or two they returned
GEN: to Leominster where all but the first two children were born.
