GRAND CANYON

The canyon walls at sunrise

SUNRISE AT THE GRAND CANYON

The morning after we arrived at the Grand Canyon, I got up at 5:00 AM to take pictures of the Grand Canyon at sunrise. One of these pictures, showing the wall of the canyon with the early morning sun shining on it, is shown above.

Kolb Studio

After breakfast, my parents and I set out on a hike along the South Rim. This picture shows the Kolb studio, which was constructed on the edge of the canyon wall. The owners used to take pictures of the dudes descending by mule into the canyon. When the dudes came out again, the pictures were waiting for them.

To this day, tourists still travel by mule into the canyon. In this shot, the mules are getting ready for today's trip into the Grand Canyon along the Bright Angel Trail.

Plateau Point and the Bright Angel Trail

This picture was taken from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and shows Plateau Point in the foreground. The light line meandering from the bottom of the picture to Plateau Point is the Bright Angel Trail, the trail used by the above mules.

After leaving the Grand Canyon, we then proceeded to Lake Powell.
