Useful Khmer Words and PhrasesAnyone can speak another language. In addition to the right motivation, there's just one thing you need - courage. The biggest hurdle is often to overcome the fear of saying out loud what might sound just like a bunch of strange sounds. You'll be surprised how people will lighten up and try to help you out if you just give it a go and try to speak a bit of the local language. There are several ways of approaching a new language. Many people have their very own favourite approach and it's impossible to say which one is the best. Well, the most efficient method is probably to read, write, listen and speak with native speakers. It might, however, be useful to memorise a few useful words and phrases. Write them down on a piece of paper and stick them up where you'll see them often. In order to view this page properly, you will need to download and install the Khmer font SEAsiteKhmer1 from Center for Southeast Asian studies at Northern Illinois University (other Khmer fonts will, unfortunately, not display correctly).
