Tours of Portugal

Portugal, which is similar in size to the state of Maine, has an adequate highway system that will permit you to discover her. Driving yourself is the way to experience the most of this delightful country. Tailor made itineraries staying at Pousadas (historical inns) and charming hotels with economy car rentals can be arranged. If you prefer, you may see the country in the comfort of a modern motor coach on a guided tour. Other tours of shorter duration are also available. Also independent hotel packages are available. Independent tours staying in castles and palaces full of charm and history can be arranged. See a detailed outline of these packages below.

Independent tours

The types of tours available are escorted tours by modern motor coach or independent tours staying in Castles and Places full of charm and history.

Many types of independent tours are possible. You may just wish to see Portugal saying at Pousadas, or you may chose to combine your stay with a golf holiday. I've also provided the various routes that I have chosen to assist you in your planning.

These pages cover most of Portugal including Madeira and the Azores so you should have a pretty good idea as to what is available.

I will share with you how I plan a trip, for what's worth. First, I determine about how much time I have available. Then I plan roughly what sections of the country that I would like to see. I compute the driving distances making sure that I don't spend all day driving. Also taking into consideration the stay at each location usually not wanting just to pack and unpack. At the same time, I usually try to figure out what other sites are within an hour or so drive from my base location. Then with all these plans in my arms, I consult a travel consultant. You should find someone familiar with Portugal. I usually accept their recommendations as to accommodations unless I have something specific in mind.

Then once the plan has some reality to it, I usually start the booking procedure and think about packing - YES Light.

A tour company that you may consider is Executive Limousine Services & Excursions. They provide transfers to and from the airport, TOURS all over Portugal, daily tours in Lisbon and surrounding localities, and tours of Jewish Heritage dating back to the eleventh century. They have Mercedes Vans and Buses and are fluent in English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish. You may call Peter Feijão at Tel: 011 351 21 4535299 or E-mail him for more information.
