Portuguese
treasures to the traveler
More than the lovely country of Portugal, 'the little country with a big
soul' as your friend so eloquently put it, Shane and I consider the two of
you the greatest treasure of our trip! To say you do 'tours' is absurdly
understated. Tours indeed! With two weeks notice (ee gads and you did it
with such a happy face) you put together an enchanting wedding for our
elopement entourage. I must admit to the fisherman being my favorite
accouterment-but second to only them, the musicians for whom you arranged to
play on the beach. A cellist and violinist from the Lisbon Symphony
Orchestra no less.
Though bouquets and boutonnières are not indigenous to the Portuguese
culture, you of course insisted to this endearing and indeed essential
detail. And glad I am. I would not have had the imagination nor good taste,
to have chosen as you did, the country wheat with white roses.
And Dear Peter of course, with his great historical narratives, winding his
Mercedes through the cobbled streets of Lisbon to help us find Kahil
Gibran's The Prophet to be read at our ceremony.
From the beautiful arch of flowers, the musicians in the sand, the Mercedes
to the beach, the rose peddles and ivy as well as the red carpet, champagne
and lovely hors d'oeuvres afterwards - dare I forget the wedding cake
(you didn't)! Your great sense of style, your attention to detail, knowledge
of the country side your genuine effervescent good nature absolutely created
our perfect wedding and transformed Portugal to our perfect secret garden.
When it is completed, I will send you the film of the wedding that I'm
making (Peter will be duly listed as the cameraman, you of course as Madame
Director). I will forward more pictures soon but attached is my favorite.
I mean really! Guided Tours ? - the details of the services you perform are
just to wonderful to be captioned under 'guided tours'- I rather like the
title 'Portuguese treasures to the traveler'
With much love and a heart and family full of thanks,
Courtney
