The data and results were analysed on the base of a field experiment carried out in the experimental field of Agricultural University of Plovdiv on carbonate alluvial-meadow soil under the conditions of nitrogen deficit. The accumulation of biological yield from 5 triticale varieties was studied (AD-7291, Rakita, Rozhen, Zaryad and Sadovets) cultivated without direct applying of nitrogen fertilization after maize for grain predecessor and during three phases of growing – the beginning of shooting up, coming into ear and full ripening. The results indicate that in regard to the biological productivity the state standard AD-7291 yields to the Bulgarian selection of varieties and its main advantage is its ecological plasticity. During the ear formation a high correlation between the total biological yield and the relative share of stems as well as some genotype differences were observed regarding the leaf mass. On the average during the 3 years of experiment the explored varieties with regard to their biological potential and under conditions of Plovdiv region can be classified in a descending line as follows: Rakita > Rozhen > Sadovets > Zaryad > AD-7291, i.e. in favour of rye-type varieties. The advantage of the new Bulgarian varieties is the higher harvest index –an indicator which is going to be a reserve for the future selection of high productivity.

Key words: Triticale – Nitrogen deficit – Biological yield – Biological yield’s components
