Fight The Fear
thanks Lady D
During the Middle ages, "religious" leaders took it upon themselves to persecute people they suspected of practicing witchcraft (Ironically, many of those persecute were actually Christians) Because of fear and ignorance, many good and decent people (mostly women) were burned at the stake, drowned, tortured to death, all because they allegedly followed the Old Ways.....
I was raised to believe that everyone deserves a chance in life, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, relgion or ancestry, etc.. and that when we are intolerant of those different from ourselves, we are judging one of the God/Godess'children which is morally wrong...We are all part of the Divine--however you see Him or Her--and when we persecute each other, we are destroying part of our own hearts....we are all interconnected in soul and spirit!!!!
Some examples of "Man's Inhumanity to Man": The Holocaust, the Inquisition, the Crusades, the Burning Times, Slavery, the brutality and isolation imposed upon the Native Americans, Apartheid, the American Civil Rights struggle, among many others....Religious persecution of ANY kind is wrong, and the fact is people all over the world are persecuted for their beliefs
The aftermath of September 11th has subjected out Arab brothers and sisters to untold horrors....Therfore, let us never forget the Burning Times of the Middle Ages (or any other dark time in our history) and let us always strive to live togather in tolerance and understanding.....Take time to study the paths which you are not educated on.... you might be suprised to learn how similar we really are. |
