Performa is an ancient Macintosh computer. The CPU is a PowerPC 601, the first generation of PowerPC CPUs. Memory is 16MB, which is not sufficient to run the MacOS 8, but for MacOS 7.5, it is sufficient. Actually, MacOS 8.5 can be installed on this machine, however, the performance is beyond my patience. So after several months trial, I switched back to the old fast MacOS 7.5. Exactly, the MacOS 7.5.5. This page is written on this lovely old Performa.
A few days ago, I upgraded the RAM to 40MB. Now I installed a copy of MacOS 8.6 on
it. The performance is much better, and searching the Internet is so easy with
Sherlock. BTW, I love the fancy functions OS 8.6 provided.
