Sci-Fi
Science fiction reading consists most of my childhood memory. Isaac Asimov is the most important writer to me, all the time. Since I can read, I enjoy visiting the local library in my neiborhood. On day, I don't remember how old I was then, I picked up a magazine called Science Pictorial , that is a rather famous popular science magazine in China. I think it counterpart in the United States is the Popular Science. There is a very intriguing short story by Asimov. From that day on, the name Asimov is impressed into my brain. During my high school days, I bought one of his non-fiction books on the etymology of the scientific terms. His fasinating explaination of the origination of the scientific terms makes the learning of English an enjoyful exercise. I never meet another writer can explain the scientific concepts in such an intriguing way. Years later, after I gain enough knowledge to read English novels, I begin to read his Foundation trilogy. I failed to find the Chinese translations, so the only way to enjoy his writing is just to read them in English. That's quite a challenge, however, I made it. Surprisingly, I found that the Galaxy Empire is rather similar to the Roman Empire, another favorite theme of my reading activities.
