How to share the Internet connection

If you have several networked computers, but have only one telephone line to connected to the Internet, you can share the telephone line between the computers. That's a great idea, right?

The following is my solution.

The easiest and most transparent solution is to use a router software. For the Windows platform, my suggestion is the Winrouter. You can check it out at http://www.winroute.com. That's the most easy to use router software I have ever used. All you need to do is get the software, install it, restart your Windows machine. Then, on the other machines which need to access the Internet from the WinRoute machine, change the default gateway or router to the IP address of the Winroute machine.

Just a reminder, you LAN can be a private IP network, you can use what ever IP number you want, just don't use the 127.x.x.x, for that is for the loopback network. In another word, that means it is the local machine. For me, I just the 10.0.0.x for my home LAN.
