Dawn's grandmother was a Maori princess, who married a Pakeha.
Marilyn works in the kiwifruit orchards, and lives in Welcome Bay, Tauranga. She lives with a girl named Jullie.
Doug attended Wellington College until 1940. From December 1939 to 19 August 1940, he assisted in the warehouse and office of Williamson Jeffery Ltd., who were involved in wholesale, manufacturing and importing stationers, paper merchants and printers furnishers. This was an after school job.
The family then moved to Hastings, and Doug attended Hastings High School. He was a member of the second fifteen rugby team, captain of the second eleven cricket team, and had an aptitude for drawing. He finished his schooling in 1941.
From 2 February 1942 until 13 January 1943, he was a junior clerk at de Pelichet McLeod and Co. Ltd. in Hastings, who were merchants, auctioneers, stock, station, insurance and shipping agents, wool and skin brokers. He resigned from this job to go into the Royal New Zealand Airforce.
From 16 April 1943 to 5 July 1945 - a period of 2 years and 80 days, Doug was a member of the Airforce involved in Radar and Operations. He was 18 at the time of enlistment.
After the war, Doug was a clerk for Amalgamated Brick and Pipe Co. Ltd. in Auckland. He resigned this job on 1 June 1949.
Marie was born in Wellington, New Zealand. She lived in Crosby Terrace for six months until her father bought a house at 65 Nairn Street, Mount Cook, Wellington. For a few years she attended the Te Aro School. In 1933, due to the depression, the house had to be released to the owners, and the family was forced to move to a rented property in Sailsbury Terrace, Brooklyn, Wellington. Marie then attended the Mount Cook School until 1936. For a few years she attended the Brookland School.
Marie was a happy girl, making friends easily.
She attended the St. James Sunday School.
In 1938, while her mother was visiting her (marie's) grandmother, the family moved to 5 Maldive Street, Khandallah, Wellington. Marie then attended the Khandallah School, and later decided to go with her school friend to the Technical College in Wellington to do a Commercial Course.
She attended the Khandallah Presbyterian Church Sunday School and Bible Class.
Marie worked in the offices of various warehouses in Wellington from 1942 until the family moved to Auckland in about 1946/7. With her parents living in Gladstone Road, Mount Albert, Marie worked in the city at Ross and Glendining's office. Later she worked in a dress shop in Mt. Albert, Auckland. It was here that she had a bad fall down some very steep steps, which led to the store-room above the shop. This led to a period of bad headaches.
Marie comitted suicide.
