Since Bound Printed Matter rates are ZONED, AND they are based on half pound increments (up to 5 pounds), it uglies up the whole process a little you can print out a zone chart for FROM you TO everywhere at the USPS web site ...

and the difference at the change point is usually just a few pennies... but as the weight increases the savings increase DRAMATICALLY... an eight pound parcel going from me to somewhere fairly close ... say Philadelphia (in Zone 2 from me) ... the Media Mail postage would be $4.30 ... Bound Printed Matter would be $2.32 ... the same parcel going to the West Coast Zone 8 from me) would have a Bound Printed Matter postage of $4.30 (same as Media Mail) ...
