1691 Oct 19 Daughter Isabell Hardy born at Concord, Massachusetts.

Know all men by the__ presents to whom it may ___have ___ of the towne of Westerly in ____colony of Rhode Island Provedence Plantation in New England _____ as grant for and in consideration of the fatherly love and natural affection I have and care unto my loving and dutiful son James Hardy of the town and colony above so (laboroer) I have given, granted, and confirmed unto my above ___ son James Hardy for and in consideration of love and affections above mentioned I have freely given him all ____ my parcell of lands which I bought of George Lewis which ____ Lewis bought of Joseph Woodmancy, which ____ Woodmancy bought of James Yorke and so much of my other tract of land which was bought of Robert Babcock adjoining to ____said Joseph Woodmancy tract or at least was bought of him that will make the one half of my farms or tract of land I now live on. That is quantity of acres I say I give it to him______ ____ son James Hardy and by ____, is lawfully begotten of his body for ever free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted and discharged of and from all manners of former and other gifts grant bargain sale ____ dowry widows thirds or any other income _____ whatever had made or done of ___ to be done by my means. The widow Persilla Hardy made sollum oath as the law directs in such cases. The three inventoriors and suscribers made oath and before the council according to the law the day and year above. Entered the Day and year above. Test- John Babcock Council Clerk- William Champlin, John Dodge, Edward Blevins. (Westerly Council Records Index 56 pg 177)

1733-4-30 Date capt. Oliver Babcock and John Richmond were directed by council to assess the estate of William Hardy according to the act of assembly that was then in force at the time of Williams death.

1736-01-26 James Hardy, wife and child were bound out by Samuel Champlin overseer, to pay the William Hardy debt.

HARDY, JAMES & ROBERT; 7/??/1748 - Silas Greenman shall draw 12 pounds in money out of money which in hands of William Champlin belonging to James Hardy one of the persons under the law of the town council, to appropriate for the wife of Robert Hardy, brother to James who is now under this council. It appearing to this council the said sum was due to Robert from James. (Westerly Council Records Index 84 pg 521)

1748 Feb 08 Date of birth of son Joseph Hardy recorded at Westerly, RI.

Voted: That Capt. James Wells is appointed overseer to Robert Hardy and Sarah his wife for ye ensuing year and that she is Capt. Wells ________? ( the word Indentured suddenly occurs to me as I am typing this) then to labor for him until the 5th day of December next then to _____ with this Council for her labor at ninety pounds for her labor for ye term. And to let them have what is ____ ____ in clothing as they may stand in need of at such price as may be approved by this council. (Westerly Town Council Records, Pg 477, December ____1756)

1765 Jun 24 Daughter Sarah Hardy bound out to Joseph Wilbor and his wife.

1774 Feb 28 Called late of Westerly, deceased.

1782 Census of Westerly, RI shows no Hardys or Harveys. (Reference: Washington County Rhode Island Probate records: MPRS 31 Dec 1750-Jan 25 1779. WE 4A:245,349,591; 5A:37,235,398; Ch 2A:83)

HARDY, ROBERT; 11/24/1746 - Robert hardy and his wife of this town who by his indiscriminate management of his funds has reduced himself and wife to great want. Appoint Edward Saunders guardian to Robert and his wife. (Westerly Council Records Index 79 pg 84)           (AUTHOR'S NOTE- This is the first notice in Westerly records of Robert being married);

(Westerly Council Records Index 79 pg 133)           (AUTHOR'S NOTE- This is first indication in Westerly records that Robert has children- apparantly Priscilla born 11/16/1744 but unknown as to who the other is since the next child listed is Joseph but he wasn't born untill 2/8/1748 which is another 14 days yet.)

11. HARDY, PRISCILLA & ROBERT; 12/31/1750 - Priscilla Hardy daughter of Robert Hardy untill 18 (now 6 years old the 16th day of last November) (b-11/16/1744) indentured to Mr William Ross. (Index 78, Pg 245)

12. HARDY, ROBERT; 12/31/1750 - Francis West accepted by this council as guardian of Robert Hardy one of the town poor in lieu of Silas Greenman who refused. (Index 79, pg 245)

13. HARDY, JOSEPH & ROBERT; 2/26/1753 - Frances Moss overseer of Robert appeared in council to bind Joseph Hardy son of Robert Hardy as an apprentice unto Isaac Babcock to age 21, now 5 years at 8th day of this month. Master to teach read and write. (Index 84, pg 340)

15. HARDY, ROBERT; 12/26/1757 - John Gorton has charge of Robert Hardy and his wife and family until 12/13/1758. (Index 84, pg 499)

16. HARDY, ROBERT; 11/25/1758 - John Gorton paid for expenses on Robert Hardy. (Index 84, pg 521)

17. HARDY, ROBERT; 2/25/1760 - Mas't Saunders paid 37 pounds from town treasury for his nursing of Robert Hardy wife and child 7 days due to small pox. (Index 84, pg 552)

18. HARDY, ROBERT; 3/31/1760 - John Gorton paid 80 pounds for care of Robert Hardy his wife and child. (Index 84, pg 554)

23. HARDY, SARAH & SARAH & ROBERT; 6/24/1765 - Voted female child (Sarah) daughter to Robert and Sarah Hardy be bound by overseer to Joseph Wilbur and his wife and town pay Wilbur sum of 50 pounds by Robert or by town if Robert doesn't earn it. For period to 3/25/1767. (Index 93, pg 76)

24. HARDY, ROBERT; @ 6/1768 - Stephen Babcock appeared to council and made offer to keep Robert Hardy under his care and clear from expense of the town. pg 115 (Index 99)

25. HARDY, SARAH; 3/22/1769 - People of Christ Church under pastorage of Stephen Babcock says Sarah member of the church and wants care of her so long as the (Francie?) a member of church. If she is excommunicated they deliver her to town with all earning and saving exclusive of charges. Also in case she dies exclusive of funeral and necessary charges. (Index 99, pg 126)

26. HARDY, ROBERT & ROBERT & ISABEL AUSTIN; 2/28/1774 - Robert Hardy son of Robert Hardy late of deceased is appointed under guardian of Nathan Babcock. Not able to bargain and conduct business. Isabel Austin is mentioned as one of poor of Westerly. (Index 99, pg 237)

27. HARDY, SARAH; 11/28/1784 - Ichabod Babcock to make inventory of Sarah Hardy clothing and deliver Sarah Hardy clothing up to Elder William Church and Church to deliver Sarah and clothing to town. (Sarah deceased?) (Index 99, pg 530)
