Why did Diccon get his own book?

Patricia wrote Diccon's story because she received so many letters from readers requesting that she write his story.

Same reason she wrote Devenish's Give All To Love(is that right?). She had never intended those characters to have their own books but they proved so popular with the readers that she decided to flesh out their stories.

Roly, on the other hand, who was supposed to be a villain in one book only took on a life of his own. When Patricia finished Practice to Deceive she thought that having a villain change over the course of the series would be very interesting. Ergo, The Dedicated Villain!

Describe your Summer, 2000 teas with Patricia Veryan.

While in Seattle I had tea with Patricia twice. Each time I learned a little more about her and what a wonderful lady she is.

So here's the stuff you all want to know. Riddle of the Shipwrecked Spinster will be out in April and it is a Georgian. I know we all originally thought that the series would be connected but that is not so. She named them with Riddle so that maybe they wouldn't be thrown in with all the other romances. Patricia says that she writes adventures and I certainly agree with that! But the publishers and critics continue to call them romances which in a strict sense they are not. So she hoped the word Riddle in the title might sway them in another direction.

She is working on another Riddle book but try as we might no details, with a small slip of an exception, passed her lips! A little something of Roly, a little something of Muffin, and I dare say no more!

She is very happy with the support you all give her. Buying her books, belonging to the fan club and the e-groups. She is a very gracious lady.

Since she is not on the internet she loves to receive snail mail. She answers letters when in between books so if you write to her she will answer in time. She feels bad that she can't always answer them right away, but I think we all would rather she be writing a book than answering our mail! And she will answer in time.

So, that's about it. It was a wonderful trip. That great big mountain was finally in view and it was incredibly stunning!
