Pics from around Sicily

Here I am climbing over a few weird lava formations. Believe it or not, their still hot! Behind me is a growing mount of lava. Only 15ft behond that is fresh-outta-the-mountain lava.
Here a good picture of molten lava flowing out towards the mounds. Half-way down the mountain this house top appears as a reminder of Mt. Etnas past.

To think this structure has been standing since 150BC leaves me with  an amazing sense of awe. Sitting high above the town below, this amphitheater provides a great of Taormina and the Ionian Sea.
Taking a time-out to reflect on all of what must have happened within these walls... Like all of Sicilian towns, the streets are slim with balconies lining all of the second storys.

Just as old, if not older, the Siracusa Amphitheater is laid out in true Roman fashion. This picture shows caves carved out of the hillside into rooms.
Standing on carved rock seats, I find it almost Flinstone-like here. Haha Ok, just being a dork...
Ok, so this isn't as real as it seems... But don't we all feel like we have this kinda weight on our shoulders sometimes? It was a really hot day... So I took in a few refreshing moments in the shade...
