KAREN'S DIARY OF ATTENDING 5566 "SERIOUS" 2003 DEBUT CONCERT
10 Apr'03 - Thursday
11 Apr'03 - Friday
12 Apr'03 - Saturday
Needless to say, the concert was GREAT and FANTASTIC!!! When Tony sang one of my favorite Japanese song, SMAP's 'Lion Heart', he looked so charming and when he sang Aaron Kwok's cantonese song, 'Kwong Yeh Chi Shing' (Kuang Ye Zhi Cheng), his dance was superb! We were at the front few rows so we were quite close to the stage. Tony saw the placards of [Tony Land] in chinese, 'Xie Zhi Tian Di' which we were holding. I was holding one with the full words and my friends holding one word each (13 Apr'03 chinese papers has a picture of it and us...but my face wasn't obvious ^^...pls don't ask who is who...). My seat was No. 1 so nobody was on my right. I stood out a little, my view was unblocked and I was holding the full 'Xie Zhi Tian Di' placard which was very obvious that Tony and 5566 could see it very clearly! (^-^)
We saw a lot of people busy taking photos. We didn't bring our camera as we wanted to abide to the rules as well as to enjoy ourselves to the fullest instead of snapping pictures...I just can't leave my eyes off Tony! ^.^ Towards the end before encore, when Tony said he was very touched and happy that 5566 is able to hold their first overseas concert which he has waited for 8 years, he felt so emotional and started weeping...we couldn't help it and cried with him as well. When he annouced that the earnings of the concert will all be donated for Rio's operation expenses, Rio was very touched and both guys hugged each other...it was such a touching scene that we all cried with them as well...their friendship bond is so strong that the earnings just doesn't really matter...what matters to them most is Rio can go for an operation, get well and return to the group again and the 5 of them can perform and dance together again! It was simply soooooooo touching! (; _ ;)
After the concert ended, we picked up the orange balloons with 5566 logo and deflated them. All of us took one home as commemorative and we gave the rest to our Taiwan friends for them to bring back for their friends. After we walked out of the stadium, I suddenly broke down and started crying, all of them were shocked to see me in that state. Other than feeling happy that Tony has finally fullfilled his long-waited wish, I felt lost and empty...a long-waited concert was over and we can only see 5566 in person again when they release their 2nd album in another 8 months' time. My friends kept consoling me that we should all feel happy that 5566 has done it...they have done such a superb performance and entered the Asia market successfully...after I heard this, I cried even more and some of my friends cried along with me (sorry girls, I've made you all cried with me...). After we calmed down, we all decided to go for our very own 'qing gong yan' (celebration feast). We took a cab and left the stadium and went to the hotel where my Taiwan friends were staying.
After we placed our stuff in their room, the group of 9 of us walked to a nearby convenience shop and bought some food and drinks. We wanted to buy champagne but it was midnight so the convenience shop was not allowed to sell so we brought can soft drinks instead. We took a stroll along the Esplanade, chatting happily about the concert. When we reached Merlion Park, all of us held a can on our hand and each of us shouted out our blessings and congratulation wishes for 5566 across the bay. Next, we did a countdown together, shaked the can and opened it and splashed it over the bay...we were touched by the atmosphere ourselves! We might seems silly but heaven will know that there was this group of Singapore and Taiwanese fans who gathered at Singapore's significant figure, The Merlion and shared our joy and happiness with them for the success of their first overseas concert in Singapore. All of us will remember it for a lifetime... (; _ ;)
As my Taiwan friends were leaving the next morning so we decided to stay throughout the night. We went back to their hotel room and watched the repeat telecast of Channel U news. We saw the news report about 5566 concert as well as my friends' interview. We chatted alot about 5566 the whole night, despite of how tired we all were. At about 6plus in the morning, we bid farewell to them...we really couldn't bear to be apart...we have enjoyed each others' accompany for the past few days...but somehow they still have to go back to their country...well, we just have to look forward to meet up with them again when we visit Taiwan next time. (^_^)
When I reached home, I was extremely tried and almost knock-out. I slept until 12pm and woke up suddenly, however, somehow, I don't feel like waking up becos' I know that after I wake up, I need to get back to reality. I felt terrible and called my friend. I told her that my stuff (placards, concert souvenirs, etc) were still unpacked as I don't dare to take them becos' when I unpack them, I can't help feeling empty again as eveything was over. We chatted for about 2 hours and we kept consoling each other...finally we both felt better and I guess we should stay happy and look forward to the concert DVD or VCD to be released! Haha, these few days I've been listening to SMAP's 'Lion Heart' and Aaron Kwok's Kwong Yeh Chi Shing' and keep recalling Tony's voice...^_^ - Karen, 16 Apr'03
