KAREN'S DIARY OF ATTENDING SHIN CONCERT & WESTSIDE STORY PROMOTION
14 Nov'03 - Friday
Tony sang 'Jian Ao' with Cyndi, followed-by saying hi to everyone. He said while he was at the backstage, he heard that many people has watched Westside Story. He recalled 5566 concert in April and now he was standing on the same stage, he felt very touched. He thanked Shin who have given him the chance to come to Singapore as their special guest. Next, Tony has made an annoucement that 5566 will be back to Singapore in April 2004 for their 2nd concert. Every cheered and applaused! \\^o^//
Next, Tony asked the audience about Cyndi's role and his role in Westside Story and everyone answered. Someone shouted 'you ma ma is here' and Tony saw Kym Ng said hi to 'lao ban niang' (Tony's role, you ya yu's way of addressing his mum in Westside Story). Kym waved at Tony and gave a pose too. Next, Tony sang the solo version of 'Cun Zai' and then followed by his fav Japanese song by SMAP, 'sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana' together with Toro. At around 10.40pm, Tony, Cyndi and Toro appeared on stage again and sang 'Tian Gao Di Hou' with Shin. Shin concert ended at around 10.55pm. I looked forward to see Tony again on Sunday. ^^
16 Nov'03 - Sunday
When it was close to 7am, more people came, we saw many wanted to cut queue but thank god that the securities managed to stop them. We had a long wait in the barricade, time seems to past so slow. At around 12.30pm, Bryan Wong and Kym Ng came and started their search for people who had hip-hop dressing to participate in their TV program, SNAP 3 (Quan Xing Zong Dong Yuan 3).
At around 1.15pm, situation turned chaotic when all of a sudden, many people started to stand up. Many made used of the chance and cut queue and the situation was simply out of control. The organiser went on stage and tried to calm down the situation but it doesn't seems to work. My friends and I were being pushed to the side and everyone squeezed forward, we struggled for about 30-45mins. The organisers kept asking people to sit down but the place we were standing doesn't even have space for us to stand properly! Finally at about 2.15pm, the organisers led the people, few by few, into the barricade in-front of the stage and finally we entered the 'safety zone' and seated on the ground at the 2nd row at the side of the stage. When it was closed to 3pm, suddenly everyone stood up and the situation turned a little chaotic. My friends and I were being pushed to the first row of the barricade and we saw many people made used of the chance to cut queue again. After some struggle, finally we had our postions still and it was back to waiting time again.
The host for the day were UFM DJs, Lin An Na and Toshi. 5566 arrived at around 3.20pm and they started off with an introduction of themselves. My friends and I waved at Tony with Tony Land placards on our hands. Tony saw us. 5566 sang 'Cun Zai' and when Tony and Cyndi sang 'Jian Ao', they walked to each side of the stage and we could see Tony very close and clear. Soon after, Kym Ng was invited on stage for a short interview with them. The DJs have also invited them to draw the lucky winners for Westside Story contest which was sent via SMS.
The handshake session started at around 3.45pm and everyone will get a special edition Westside Story sticker before going up on stage. The sitting sequence was Jason, Kym, Tony, Zax, Cyndi and Sam. When I went up on stage, I say hello to Jason, he returned with a smile (I could sensed that he recognised me cos' his expression was like 'hey, it's you!') and I moved on to Kym, she's quite friendly. Next was Tony of course, he gave me a extremely bright and sweet smile, can sensed that he's happy to see me cos' I promised him before that I will attend all 5566 activities whenever they are here. I returned him a smile and at that moment, I just felt that everything...15 hours of wait was all worthwhile. Before I left, Tony asked me to take care (I believe he's worried about everyone's safety as he could see how chaotic the situation was). Once again, I've to comment that Tony is so sweet and caring! ^.^ At around 5.30pm, 5566 was back on stage as the judges for SNAP and they left the venue at around 6pm.
17 Nov'03 - Monday
Their journey started at around 3.25pm, while they were on the road and river, they called in to UFM1003 for a live interview. We waited at Suntec and they came back at around 4.05pm. Before they alight, Tony stood up and waved at the fans calling him. Lots of fans went quite near to the Ducktours but I didn't. I just stood at one side and waved at him with my placard, he saw me and smiled and waved back too. Although he was wearing sunglasses but I could sensed that there was eye contact and the way he reacted and responded was as if he was trying to say, 'I know you are here, thanks for your support'. That was simply such a sweet moment that I'll always remember! ^o^
During the radio interview, Tony said that the rest will return to Taiwan the next day but he'll be staying here for another few days (for some personal reasons I supposed). However, since his activities weren't open to public, my friends and I would rather respect him so we got back to work the next day.
Year 2003 will be coming to an end soon and the next time we see 5566 will be in 2004. I recalled my trip to Taiwan last year, being the first 5566 fan who went overseas to support them. I recalled 5566 several visits to Singapore during this year, I had lots of mixed feelings and emotions. I know I already had the recognition from Tony and 5566, at times, no words is required, a kind of 'chemistry' will always be there. Actually I could give lots of things a miss but I just simply couldn't help it...I still feel very excited whenever I see them...I witnessed 5566's popularity rising day by day but Tony is still the same Tony whom I've met for the first time back in 2002, so real and sincere...my support, my passion and love for Tony will always be there...- Karen, 23 Nov'03
