What's Improving In Cinnaminson
Things are starting to change for the better here in Cinnaminson. Among the changes are the plans to redevelop the Caldor Shopping Center. Demolition of the Caldor and Mini-Mall may start as early as August 31, 2005. While the businesses that are moving in haven’t yet been announced, it has been rumored that a supermarket will be one of the them.
Cinnaminson will also soon announce a redevelopment plan for other areas of Route 130. Motel row expected to be targeted. The improvements have already begun in some areas and many new businesses have opened or will soon be opening. Among those now opened are The Outlet Marketplace at Cinnaminson which occupies the old Clover building, Stout & Caldwell Engineering, Renaissance Photography, Cinnamon Sticks Learning Center, Bacio Restaurant, Chevellaros Pizza, Huntington Learning Center, and New Jersey Hardwood Flooring.
New businesses opening in the future include First Colonial Bank between New Albany Road and Chestnut Hill Drive on Route 130, Delanco Savings Bank and Starbucks at the corner of Route 130 and Highland Avenue, environmental laboratory firm that will occupy the JCI building , and Mart Pretzels which will be opening very shortly in the Pep Boys Shopping Center. Jim and Don Fraser have run the Mart Pretzel Shop in the Pennsauken Mart for 39 Years and are now moving it to Cinnaminson due to the impending closure of the historic Pennsauken Mart. There’s no where around that you can get a better pretzel than the Mart Pretzel Shop which will now be known as Cass’s Soft Pretzel Bakery.
There is some bad news though. On May 20, 2005 at approximately 4:30PM Cinnaminson lost one of it’s biggest stores when Radio Shack and several other stores where forced to close due to structural damage to the building. The other stores in the shopping center that have closed are Domino’s Pizza, American Karate, and Marcon Engraving. American Karate and Marcon Engraving have relocated, however, Radio Shack and Domino’s Pizza have not announced any plans to relocate. I used to worked in the Radio Shack that was located on land once owned by my Great Grandfather and I am very sorry to see it go. It was very convenient to be able to go to in order to get a flashlight bulb, a fuse, a wire for my stereo, or even bigger items. Radio Shack always has something interesting to offer and it’s fun just look around in a Radio Shack too.
Cinnaminson’s economic future seems to be improving and will hopefully continue to improve with the addition of the above mentioned stores and businesses.
