Hazel Atlas Seashell Pattern Capri Blue Bowl Set
This shimmering set of deep-aquamarine colored bowls were made by the Hazel Atlas Co. in the 1950's and the 60's after it was owned by Continental Can. There are four small berry bowls and one large serving bowl and the electric blue color goes all the way through the glass.
Listed in their book Collectible Glassware of the 40's, 50's and 60's 8th Edition, by Gene and Cathy Florence, page 26 and pictured on page 28. According to Gene and Cathy, the pattern is called "Seashell" and the color is "Capri".
Large Salad Bowl
- 9-1/2 inches diameter.
- 2-7/8 inches deep.
- 1 lbs. 14 ounces in weight.
Small Berry Bowls
- 4-1/2 inches diameter.
- 1-3/4 inches deep.
- 5.7 ounces in weight (each).
The blue crystal glass has a bit of a ring, indicating a lead content to improve clarity. It has a yellow glow under long wave UV, and a soft white glow under short wave UV. These are consistent with post-WWII glass of this period that we have tested.
In excellent condition with no cracks, scratches or repairs.
