New Martinsville Elegant Depression Radiance Salad or Luncheon Plates

New Martinsville Radiance Salad or Luncheon Plates

Radiance was introduced by New Martinsville Glass with great fanfare in 1936, and quickly became their top seller. It is still highly sought after.

This set of five mid-sized plates are perfect for luncheon or salads.

Listed and pictured in these three glass collectors books: Pocket Guide to Depression Glass and More, 1920s - 1960s, 14th Edition, 2005, by Gene and Cathy Florence, on page 151 and Collectors Encyclopedia Depression , 17th Edition, 2006, by Gene and Cathy Florence, on page 185 - 186, and Elegant Glass: Early, Depression and Beyond, 2nd Edition, 2004, by Debbie and Randy Coe, on pages 200-201.

The extremely clear crystal glass rings nicely, indicating pre-war lead content, to improve clarity. The yellow-green glow under long wave UV, and powder blue glow under short wave UV are consistent with New Martinsville glass made in this era.

All five plates are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs, just some normal scratches from regular use.
