THE MAGICIAN 1973 TV Series
The Magician stars wholesome actor Bill Bixby in the role of Tony Blake, millionaire magician and compassionate philanthropist. Unjustly imprisoned in a South American country, Tony Blake managed to escape and took along with him his cellmate who soon after passed away. However, grateful for Tony’s help, he left his considerable fortune to the magician. Tony vowed to turn such a miserable experience into something positive. Moved by other’s suffering, he went on to use his wealth and magic to help those in need who happened to cross his path.  Such was the noble premise of The Magician.
A perfectly suitable for children series, The Magician takes the viewer down a path of adventure, mystery, intrigue and romance. A playboy with a heart of gold, Tony is most definitely popular with the ladies. Indeed, courtesy of Bill Bixby’s inherent charisma and impossibly handsome good looks, Tony Blake is a real charmer. Sexy wheels are then in order for such a smooth and attractive hero. Enter the series unspoken co-star, “SPIRIT”, Tony Blake’s sleek white Stingray Corvette which comes complete with vanity plate and car phone, a rare luxury, to say the least, in the early 70's. A breathtaking and curious looking owl plays the part of Tony's very exotic pet.

Full of apparent contradictions, (after all who has heard of a compassionate millionaire or a playboy with a heart of gold!?), the persona of Tony Blake never ceases to fascinate, even intrigue the viewer. Tony Blake remains the embodiment of exceptional moral values: Integrity, compassion, selflessness, and non-violence are only a few of the cornerstone qualities that are intrinsic to Tony Blake’s character. As if that wasn’t enough, Tony also personifies the epitome of coolness: self-assured, sometimes smug, always perfectly poised, Tony at all times retains his self-control, even in the presence of adversity.
