FM ECU kit

The FM ECU Kit as received from Dealer Alternative. The kit comes with the (right) ECU Board, the MAP Sensor and vacuum hose, and the (left) ribbon cable and keypad.

Installation instructions are clearly written and easily followed. The FM ECU is a "Work in Progress" and requires several modifications that have not been updated in the manual. Dealer Alternative has setup a web page to step you through the additional changes. Be sure to check the page regularly. It will make your life much less frustrating when you begin to tune the ECU.

The actual ECU installation took less than 30 minutes. It involves removing the old ECU from it's aluminum housing and replacing it with the new ECU. In my 93, the ECU is located in the passenger footwell. I routed the ribbon cable from the ECU up through the console into the cup holder area. I simply lay the cable flat and install the cup holder when I'm not tuning via the keypad. The keypad fits handily into this area when connected.

Under the hood, you must disconnect the Air Flow Meter cable and connect it to the FM ECU MAP sensor. Install, then route the vacuum line from the stock fuel regulator to the MAP sensor. Mount the MAP sensor in some out of the way place with double sided tape supplied. That's it!
