The Ashuak Chronicles:
Update

With Shane Parker's cover work completed for Passion, and the final edit done, the novel now heads to the printers for setting and then the proof edit.

Meanwhile Freedom is reaching the 300 page mark and steaming along to the headier sections. Estimated month of completion is November, all things in life being equal.

Raymond Feist lunch

On September 19 I was invited to lunch with one of my all time favourite authors, Raymond E Feist whose work Magician long ago inspired me into the fantasy writing genre.

The lunch was generously provided by HarperCollins at the International Wine Bar in Rundle Street before Ray had to head off to a book signing where hundreds of the faithful were waiting eagerly for his autograph. Well I enjoyed myself before scurrying back to school to teach my Year 9s. Ray is a friendly chap with plenty of advice and stories to tell. I just covet his fame and fortune.

Adam: The Teenage Novel for 2003

The cover for Adam has been designed and looks great. I'll post it on here next issue but I do love the design.

Lisa Berryman says the crew in Melbourne are very excited about its release next year (July) and the challenge is on to follow up with another teenage novel.

AdderCon

Adelaide's Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention was held on September 22nd at the SA Writers' Centre and one panel was titled 'Fantasists of Athens of the South' featuring myself, Fiona McIntosh and Sean McMullen.

Taking questions from the floor, we dealt with the usual topics such as 'Why do we write fantasy?, 'Are agents a necessary evil?' and 'Is fantasy stealing the thunder from Science Fiction?' It was a good session with plenty of comment. Sean provided 3 dimensional karate action and audience interactivity by beating up Robert Stephenson.
