"So, are you gonna tell me what's been bugging you lately or do I need to use the Truth card on you?" Sakura asked softly and quietly. Puck looked at her with sad eyes.
"Chris is next," he told her. "I'm so sick of everything that's happening! I'm so tired of it all..."
"I know," came her soft reply. "I just can't help but think that all this is somehow my fault. Like, if I had never wished to be a 'real person', none of this would have ever happened."
"That may be true. But it also may not be true. My guess would be that if that evil creature really wanted Sarah that badly, all this would have happened with or without you and Syaoran."
Puck's answer to my beloved made sense to me. I really felt sorry for Sarah--she was just a normal teenage girl who happened to be the author Empress Sarah and only just now began experiencing all of this! Next thing I knew though, a soft, singing voice intruded on my thoughts.
Only Chris had heard her soft prayer. He immediately sent up a prayer as well in hopes that God would lead them out of this alive.
"'All things are possible through Him'," quoted the young actor to himself. "'All things are possible through Him who gives you strength.'"
They didn't know I knew about Chris being the next most likely victim, but I did. They didn't know I had a plan, but I did. They didn't know that my middle name was Christine, but I did. They didn't know that both my first and middle names' meanings put together would mean Princess Christian, but I did! And I was going to live up to that name by puting my faith in God and helping keep Chris alive! Even if it meant fighting my greatest nemesis, Satan, I would make sure no one else was killed because of some evil, dark monster who wanted me for his queen! Spirits and hopes greatly raised, I continued onward with my head held high.
I watched as her face seemed to brighten and smiled. I then noticed that Syaoran was carying a sleepy Sakura on his back. Sarah noticed as well.
"Isn't it sweet how they love each other?" she asked. I chuckled.
"Yeah, it's sweet," I answered. "Isn't it sweet how you care about everyone so much?" No answer for that one. I hadn't really expected one, anyway.
"You know, over the summer, a couple of the girls in my youth group nicknamed me 'Sunny' because I'm always so cheerful."
"Except now. Right?" Again, no answer.
I sneered as I watched them grow closer emotionally. As if the two card captors' sickening display wasn't enough, they had to throw this in!
"Well, no matter," I whispered sinisterly. "Soon I will have my queen. Puck, Syaoran, Sakura, and my queen's beloved Chris shall all be dead!"
I was having the time of my life on Syaoran's back. His hair smelled so good! I quickly snuggled closer to him as we continued our journey.
"Syaoran?"
"Hai?"
"Aishiteru."
"Sakura?"
"Hai?"
"Wo ai ni." I smiled happily to myself and snuggled even closer to my beloved.
I wished so badly to be Owen Burnett working for Xanatos again. But I couldn't and wouldn't betray my new friends!
"No! Only a dishonerable fae would do such a thing! And I am an honerable fae through-and-through!"
"Guys? Could we please rest a while?" The others looked at her in concern before nodding their assent.
"Are you okay, Sarah?" Sakura asked worriedly. Sarah smiled weakly.
"I'll be fine," she assured her friends. "I just have a really bad headache right now."
"Tylenol..." moaned Sarah. After an hour of resting, Sarah's headache had only gotten worse and the others felt it best to find a way out of the forest as soon as possible. They were now continuing on their way--this time, with Chris carrying a very-much-in-pain Sarah.
"How's her head?" inquired Sakura. Chris looked down at the moaning girl he held in his arms.
"I think she's dreaming about Tylenol or something like that," he informed her. "That, and her headache keeps getting worse. I wish we knew what had caused this."
"The evil one, of course!" reminded Syaoran. Puck sighed wearily.
