I was so shocked when I heard the news on MTV that day
I thought it was just a mistake and there could have been no way
But when the reports identified that it was his body
A complete state of silence suddenly surrounded me

All I kept thinking was it was a joke and that it wasn't real
But the better side of me started to understand that I needed to feel
So much grievance was spilled to accept the one I admired was gone
I remained strong through it all and realized that my life would go on
