Regular Season Rules
Financial Requirements
A fee of twenty five dollars entitles a participant to regular season draft entry, playoff draft entry, three free agent signings, and two trades.
The entry fee is due no later than one month after the start of the regular season.
Failure to pay the entry fee by the deadline will result in a five dollar penalty that, along with the original fee, must be paid no more than two weeks after the late penalty has been enforced.
If any fees have been left unpaid longer than six weeks after the start of the regular season, the tardy participant will be disqualified from both the regular season and playoff drafts.
A disqualified participant's players can not be claimed by anyone during the regular season; however, they will all be free to use in the playoff draft.
Draft day
The draft date will occur on the Sunday closest to the start of the NHL regular season at one p.m. central standard time.
The draft will be held live so all participants must be able to interact in person, via MSN, or telephone.
Roster
Each participant will pick a roster containing ten NHL players.
Each roster must contain at least two defensemen and only one goaltender.
No roster will exceed ten players at any time.
Draft Lottery
Before the draft begins, lots will be drawn to determine draft order.
All participants who did not participate in the previous year's draft will be given four lots.
The number of lots awarded to a participant who played in the previous year's draft, directly corresponds to the place in which they finished: First place gets one lot, second places gets two lots, third place gets three lots, and so on.
A single lot will be given out for each award won in the previous year's draft; The KB Cup and Trophy are exempt from this rule.
If a participant sets a new record in any award category, they will receive one award lot in every draft lottery afterwards until they are usurped.
Returning players from previous years will be given lots in accordance with any records they still hold.
Draft Selection
All participant lots will be placed in a draft bag before the draft begins.
As the lots are drawn, the selected participant makes their first draft pick.
After the third participant is selected, all award lots will be added to the draft bag to determine the remaining order.
Lot selection will continue until every participant has drafted one player.
The second round begins at the bottom of the newly formed draft list and works it's way back up to the top, and so on.
This process continues until all participants have drafted ten players.

Player transactions
Any NHL player not selected during the draft will be considered a free agent and can be added to any roster before the trade deadline.
The deadline for player transactions is at midnight on February 28th.
To complete a free agent signing, you need to let me know which player you would like to add and which player you want to drop.
As long as you abide by the one goaltender and two defenseman rule, you are free to add and drop any player during a free agent signing.
Trading with other participants will be allowed with a limit of two transactions per participant.
Both participants involved in a trade will have one trade deducted, not just the participant who initiates the transaction.
All trades between participants will be subject to a vote by all participants where the majority of favourable votes are required to allow the transaction to proceed.
Point restriction
All player transactions will be subject to a point restriction.
Point restriction allows you to retain all points gained by your released player and only obtain your new player's points from the transaction date onwards.
Amendments
Act of God Clause - If any player on your roster leaves the NHL due to an "act of god", you may select any free agent of the same position with points equal to or less than your departing player.
Acts of god include retirement, permanent disability, or death.
Three Games Grace Clause - If any of your players are expected to miss six or more weeks of the regular season due to an injury or extenuating circumstance in their first three games of the season, you may select a new player of the same position with points equal to or less than your departing player.
If a participant chooses to enact this clause they have seventy two hours in which to alert me of the injury and a suitable replacement.
