Who Am I?
I am student, Humanist, vegetarian,
environmentalist, aspiring philosopher. I believe in universal
human rights, peace and non-violence, individual responsibility and
courage. I believe that complete democracy should be striven for,
and that a democratic society cannot exist within a capitalist economy,
I am a socialist.
I believe that there is a universal Truth, but that
we may never know it and it cannot be revealed to us by supernatural
means. The only way to truth is personal experience and
scientific inquiry. I believe every person is responsible for
striving for knowledge and as a society we have the responsibility to
ensure that every woman, child and man on Earth has accesss to the
necessities of life and the ability to become educated and contribute
to the body of human knowledge.
I believe that science and technology are helpful
tools in our understanding of the universe and the betterment of
mankind, but that the most important and far-reaching revolutions that
need to take place are not technological but economic and
religious. I do not believe that peace can be achieved through
war, nor that war is inevitable. I believe that we as humans are
intrinsically aggressive but this aggression is not beyond our ability
to control and harness for the greater good of all the Earth. I
believe in living simply, pursuing happiness and working for positive
change such that all others can have meaningful, happy lives.
