Daniel Alvear, Topic Comics

History

It's an inhouse comic done by Topic Comics. Written by Marcos Daniel Alvear and Angela Alvarez Pisco. Penciled by Marcos Daniel Alvear. Co-created by Xavier Ruiz in 2004. Drama and Art Consultant Daniel Meza García.

Production on the comic began in August 2007 with a story roughly written at the beginning of the year. The first part of the proyect, Vanky #3 Resurrection was completed in September 16 and presented in July 15th 2008. Before it's release, Vanky #4, the second part was put on hold while development on Drag Dragon #4 was completed in June 2008.

Throught 2009 work was being done on the story of Vanky #4, which was considered incompleted. Angela Alvarez was brought to the team to complete some ideas and work as a consultant while she fully worked on a separated story at the same time.

This time, the story showed a little more focus on the characters and their feelings, a style that varied with works done before. Let that be the main reason this release may be a lot different from other comics done before.

What happened at the very beginning?

Xavier Ruiz isa man that lives guilt for the bad things that happened to Sandy Mendoza, his former fiancée whom he betrayed with Gabriela Jurado, a childhood friend. Sandy suffered a major psychological decline after the events and finally died sometime later. This is what Xavier have nightmares of everyday, so it's better to clear this up right now.

Vanky #1 and Vanky #2 are not part of the main story here in Vanky Resurrection, but I will give a quick resume on to what happened there because it's deadly important to know so the main story have a lot of more sense.

Q: Why don't you show me the comics instead?
A: Oh, I won't, : p. Those are too old, I was too young, so in consequence they aren't too good to be shown up, they aren't worth it. I'd rather tell you the story this one time. Maybe I should remake them, they'd look a lot better now. Here we go...

Vanky #1 -released in October 12th, 2004

It's 1972. After the events that will change Sandy forever, Xavier gets mad about the rape of Gabriela Jurado. Seeking revenge, he becomes Vanky, a vigilante that will low the high rates of crime and injustice that have been surrounding the city since its inception.
At the same time, Hannibal Sabala. A criminal mastermind is rising (no pun intended) with his discovery on to how clone humans. He works in Agrochemicals, his main fortress that he founded as a company 17 years ago in 1955. His son, Hannibal II, helps him out and finds the guinea pig for this project. Jelous by how much importance Sandy gives to Xavier after he betrayed her, Hannibal II decides to capture Xavier.
Hannibal makes clones of him while he deeply sleeps in a coma. When he finally react and escape from Agrochemicals, Hannibal Fortress, and go back to home. When he gets there, he speak up with Sandy only to realize that everyone think he's dead.
With this, he decides to go back to Agrochemicals to talk with Hannibal. At this time he is totally unaware of Hannibal II, which he only knows by the name of Napoleon.
Getting there, Hannibal teach him how he discovered a way to clone any kind of human being and that in fact, the real Xavier Ruiz died in the process of cloning, leaving Xavier with the more than obvious though that he's just a clone and not the real Xavier Ruiz. Let that be why everyone thinks that Xavier is dead.
With this, Xavier explodes Agrochemicals with a bomb with Hannibal and all his clones in it. He runs, promising living behind the shadows only, since he's living a life he's not suppose to be living.

Vanky #2: Vanky Returns -released in October 12th, 2005

A bunch of years have passed since he events of Vanky #1. It's 2005 and Xavier Ruiz is still strong as a young man. In fact, After the experiments, it seems that he doesn't get older as normal people do. Weird enough? Well well...

Note: I actually try to make all my comics have a connection, so we won't get deep into the business Hannibal do with the mafia this time. That's a discussion for another comic, another time.

Xavier Ruiz has been secretly operating to keep crime low in Quil City, following every mobster and stopping them before it's too late.
Lately, Hannibal has been working with the mafia, this catch Xavier eye. He definitely shows up before him and tells Hannibal not to do anything wrong. Xavier teamp up for the first time with Timothy Sax and begins to appear more openly in the public eye to cause fear to the criminals.
This is Hannibal II, his father died in the explotion back then in 1972. He reckoned every clone was killed there, so it was a mistery why Xavier Ruiz was still out there.
Checking up in the database from Agrochemicals, he realizes that the Xavier Ruiz he met earlier wasn't just a Xavier Ruiz, it was the actual Xavier Ruiz. His father confused him so he believed that he was clone, to make him leave everything that actually was mean to be his.
Hannibal's men captured him and told him the true. Angered, he escapes to run to his family and to Sandy. Only to know that his family was recently killed and that Sandy has been disappeared for more than 10 years. Xavier decides, once again, to kill Hannibal Sabala, who has made of Xavier's life a lie.

Gearing up, for the ultimate test, he goes to Agrochemicals, unnoticed goes to the lab chambers where Hannibal Sabala hides. He confronts Sabala. He tells him the truth. He always was the real Xavier but thanks to experimentation he won't get old as fast as common people do. He angrily raises his gun pointing at Hannibal, asking if he knows anything about Sandy. Hannibal reveals that Sandy was going to die because of a mental illness that was killing her, so he put her in a water chamber so she could survive. When Xavier was about to kill Hannibal, for all he has done, Xavier realizes he wasn't doing the proper thing. Instead of shooting Hannibal, he shoots at Sandy who was inside the water chamber so she could finally die no matter what ever hapenned to her before. With this, he proves that revenge is up for no good and that things that died in the past should stay that way, with no remorse, without hard feelings.

Hannibal is sent to jail and Xavier talks to Timothy Sax to tell him what had happened in Agrochemicals. D'you think this is the end of the story? NO!!! IT'S NOT. It has only begun.

So, even if you thing the story is crappy enough to stop reading or not I suggest not to loose interest since it was a story written when I was a lot more younger, and more useless*. So, keep that in mind because the next story is not so totally linear. It's a lot more different and complex. I won't totally unveil the story since I prefer you to read the comic this time, which may be released on the Internet later at the end of October.

*That's how i feel about myself when I was young. It doesn't mean I understimate the capacity of young people.

While Sandy's tragedy is what Xavier keeps in mind most of his days, the main story begins with the murder of a woman on an alley. Xavier Ruiz see a man in a black fashionable costume with a hat and a scythe. Police arrives surrounding Xavier, the police was already alerted about bad things to come that night.
Who the hell was that guy? Did the police was already alerted before the woman was killed? All the answers may or may not be solved in prision, where Xavier is going to be for not a long time... : p. Check Out Vanky #3 Soon.

In Vanky #4 Niels Vengeance

After an explotion that happenned at the most luxurious restaurant in the city on the events in VK #3, Niels Romero was left homeless and orphan. He starts following Xavier Ruiz who is leading the investigation with Timothy Sax. Niels seeks revenge and Xavier tries to teach him that revenge is not good. Xavier accepts Niels to stay one night, so they can talk about his wish to kill Guillermo Campos, responsible for the death of Niel's parents. Xavier goes out one night to to investigate just to find out that one of his friends in the investigation has betrayed him. Who would that be? Long time partner in the police Tim Sax, or is it Xavier new lawyer, Carla Robles? Weren't both of them in love? Where The F*ck Is Carmen San Diego? : S. Check Out Vanky #4 Niels Vengeance soon. The story is good, I guess. Not mind blowing but the best I can do. Since Geocities s closing in October 26, the release of both comics in the Internet will be announced via twitter very soon.

After completition we will have to traduce it to English since we didn't originally work on the script in english. Scan it, upload it, maybe in Megauploads or something like it. It won't take long, we have all the time now to work on it.
