Gymnastics:
Sarah's best events are bars and beam, with vault her weakest event. Sarah's main strengths are her grace and difficulty, as well as her solid form and technique. Sarah is a great dancer, and her strength is precision, not power. At times, however, a lack of confidence will sometimes lead to inconsistency for Sarah.

Biography:
Sarah Torrence was born on December 15, 1988 in Bethesda, MD. This would not have been anything unusual, except that Sarah was not due to be born until March. Sarah fought hard and survived, but doctors warned her parents that she would always be slow, both physically and mentally. Ever since then, Sarah has dedicated herself to proving those doctors wrong! When she was three years old, Sarah began gymnastics and she rose quickly through the ranks, becoming an Elite gymnast at the age of ten. At the age of 11, Sarah left home to train at a gym in Arizona. It seemed Sarah's life was a fairy tale, but then Sarah's world was changed forever when her father died in a car accident. Sarah considered quitting gymnastics altogether, but with the encouragement of her mother decided to stay in the sport. In June of 2001, after lengthy consideration, Sarah decided that her gym in Arizona was not the best place for her, and she explored many gyms across the country before finally settling on Topopolilly Gymnastics.

While Sarah was at Topopolilly, she thrived and had great success. In 2001, Sarah was crowned Topopolilly National Balance Beam champion and won the silver medal in the All-Around. She was also a member of the gold medal winning 2001 Fall World Championships team. Sarah continued her success into 2002, when she won the gold medal with her team at the 2002 Winter Olympics. A few months later, Sarah won the All-Around competition at the Topopolilly Classic and virtually dominated the competition, also winning gold on beam and vault and silver on the uneven bars. She won medals in various national and international meets throughout the spring and summer, and capped off her summer with a second consecutive All-Around silver medal at Topopolilly Nationals. Sarah is already a World Champion and an Olympic Gold Medalist, and the future is very bright for this young lady.

When she is not doing gymnastics, Sarah is your teenager! She is a straight-A student, and she's quite mature for her age, although she loves to have fun too. She enjoys many of the typical hobbies of a girl her age, including singing, swimming, reading, shopping, and hanging out with her friends. She treasures time at home with her family - her mom and five younger brothers and sisters. Sarah may be a little older than her years, but she still loves being a kid - who just happens to also be a gymnastics
superstar!
