Procedures and Rules
for Mrs. Andersons Class
2009-10
Be in Class Always! Attendance is very important, we will be doing new things
every day.
Be Seated And ready to work before class begins. There should be no tardies,
all tardies are unexcused and will result in a loss of points from the student’s
nine weeks grade or one half hour make up session before school.
Be Prepared Bring your three-ring notebook, paper, pencil,
book, and calculator, every day. The recommended calculator for Algebra
2 and beyond in the sequential path is a TI-84+. For those in Core+ classes
the TI-84+ is also recommended. Algebra 1 students may use any
calculator. Those who do not want to purchase their own TI-84+ can check
one out from the book depository, the procedure is similar to checking out
any text book but you will need to get a signed checkout form from me before
going to the book depository.
Do Your Homework! Before each class period begins.
Be Respectful Of everyone else in the room and the property in the room. Please
do not eat, drink anything but water, wear hats or wear sunglasses in the
room.
Grading You will be given points for each assignment you do, grades will be
based on a percent of the total points for the nine weeks and for the semester.
Core+: One test will be given per unit, tests will be worth
approximately 40% of your nine weeks grade. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced
and will total about 30% of your nine weeks grade. Investigations, Check Your
Understanding (CYU) problems, and On Your Own (OYO) problems will make up the
other 30% of your nine weeks grade.
Sequential: Tests count approximately 60% of your nine weeks
grade, they are usually given at the end of a chapter. Quizzes count approximately
30% of your nine weeks grade, they may be announced or unannounced, they may
also include group work done in class. Homework is worth about 10% of your
nine weeks grade, it will be graded approximately twice per chapter, once when
the first quiz of the chapter is given, the second time when the chapter test
is given. Homework is kept in your three-ring notebook, which should be neat
and organized.
Make-ups/Absences It is the student’s responsibility
to find out what material s/he missed by being absent. There are five ways
to find out: see me before school
the day you return from an absence, check the web site by going to the high
school web site then clicking on staff web pages then clicking on my name or
go to http://oocities.com/toppermath, e-mail me at s.anderson@laschools.net,
call me at 663-2553, call a friend in the class. If I don’t hear from
you, I will assume that you have gotten the information and are ready to move
ahead with the class. If that is not the case, you must see me in person before
school the day your class meets. If there is a test or a quiz on the day that
you return from an absence I will expect you to take it with the rest of the
class unless you have spoken to me before school about rescheduling it.
Help I am available for help daily before school. I am available
after school on most days also. You may also see me during my planning periods
which are 1A/B and 4B. Please let
me know if you plan to come in during a planning period so that I can meet
you in C-2.
Unexcused Absences For any unexcused absence, you will receive
a zero for the day’s
test, quiz, or activity or a 3% reduction from your nine weeks grade, whichever
is worse.
Cheating Will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for the assignment,
test, or quiz.
What should you do in math class? Math classwork and math homework!
Please do not do, or ask to do, work for other classes in this class.
