Despite his tidepool complexion and seemingly timid nature, Mick is an explosive surfer. He has been in the top five for three years running, and barely missed taking the title from Slater a couple of years back.

Last summer, Mick beat Sunny at Huntington, the most important contest on the tour, media-wise. Mick made a flippant remark about how American surfers are pathetic and Sunny got pissed. Sunny said Mick was pathetic, especially the way he sits on the shoulder at Pipe.
