The ending of the fast is celebrated for three days in a holiday called the "Id-al-Fitr" (the feast of fast breaking). These celebrations include exchange of gifts and large social gatherings. Sometimes fairs are held to celebrate the occasion

Linda Owens, the Pastoral Associate for Ecumenical Ministries at Benedictine University says that the community has been asked to join in a food drive sponsored by the peer ministers.
"The food drive is a form of standing with our Muslim community as they fast during the month of Ramadan" she explains.

She notes that a Christian-Muslim round table discussion will be held at a later date to be announced. But she further states that non-Muslim and non-Jewish students should "celebrate our differences and educate ourselves about others faith by asking questions, attending programs, and visiting services. If students have questions Linda Owens suggest talking to peers that are Muslim or Jewish and visit University Ministry on the web at www.ben.edu
