ULTRANN'S EXHIBITION MATCH - GIBLET VS. CHEEMO
Ultrann and Torgal watch from the high edge of the Pit as the combatants are approaching the Pit gates. Torgal chuckles lightly, "Seems Giblet has brought reinforcements with him!" Ultrann laughs and says, "It is merely an illusion; he has created three mirror images of himself. Giblet's cowardly character is indeed true.Where others choose to hide behind large ogres, Giblet looks to be hiding behind himself. We can see on the other side of the pit that fiesty Cheemo can't wait to get in to fight. This should be an interesting fight, between combatants which have racial hatred towards the other! But with magic as their specialties, don't expect to see any hand-to-hand combat today! And don't expect a quick battle either. I can see this going for a while..."

With that, Torgal signals the gates to be opened. Four gnomes with pointy black beards come out of the one entrance, along with a floating incorporeal hand. At the other entrance, a snarling dog-boy in robes comes out of the other. Very quickly, the four gnomes all move 5 feet to the right, and the floating hand streaks forward to Cheemo in an attempt to touch him, but it strikes an invisible barrier and does no harm. "Show me your true self, needle-nose!!" squeals Cheemo as he charges towards the 4 gnomes. He fires off one magic missile at one of them, and one more at another. They all buckle in pain, but the two disappear-- obviously not the real Giblet.

The floating hand follows Cheemo, and this time grabs him by the shoulder, sending an immense shock through his body. He staggers forth in pain but fires off two more magic bolts, one at each of the remaining enemies. The first strikes, and the foe does not disappear. Eureka! The second strikes, and that foe does disappear.

Seeing that his ruse is up, Giblet starts moving forward and to his right, mutters something under his breath, then he disappears completely. Cheemo squeals, "Come and face me, chicken-dropping!". But realizing this may be his best chance to restore his health, Cheemo quaffs one of the potions on his belt, and feels rejuvenated.

Giblet does not re-appear. Angry with his foes' cowardly behaviour, Cheemo fires two magic missiles at the floating hand, causing it to twitch and disappear. "Take that, coward!!" He hears no response. Suddenly Cheemo hears noises directly behind him. He quickly spins around and fires off a thin ray of cold in that direction. With the sound still remaining at that spot behind him, he knows he was duped by the gnome's cheap magic tricks. "Fight, or I'll skin your family alive!!"

Cheemo hears some sounds, some movement along the wall to his left. His head follows the sound, and suddenly Giblet re-appears, throwing a gem that suddenly transforms into two frozen orbs. One smacks solidly into Cheemo's body, the other lightly grazing him. Angry and wounded, Cheemo cuts the distance between them to about 10 feet and fires off two magic bolts, both striking true. Giblet runs along the wall, away from Cheemo, and fires off two magic bolts of his own. The first strikes, causing Cheemo to squeal. The second strikes, and Cheemo squeals no more.

"Sometimes it is the cowardly ones that win, eh Torgal?", chuckles Ultrann. "I like a good magic show. Well done to both combatants. I'm sure Cheemo will be better prepared for any repeat battle in the future."

** Note from Torgal: Some of the text in the first paragraph has been altered to suit my tastes... I felt a jab at another DM would be funny and I needed to correct something that Torgal would not have said. These changes were not meant to reflect on the quality of the writing. I am happy to have another DM on board.
